If you're a travel manager at a company or maybe have your own business, and are looking for a way to streamline your business travel, then this is for you.
We've previously reviewed the all-in-one travel management platforms TravelPerk and TripActions. We've also covered Hotel Engine, which focuses on hotel bookings.
Today we'll be covering Egencia, a travel management platform that promises to modernize a company's travel management.
For Egencia, they claim to be the solution for your corporate travel management needs. But do they stay true to their words?
Read on to find out if Egencia delivers on what it sets out to do.
But first, what is Egencia?

What is Egencia?
Egencia is a leading corporate travel management program. It helps companies streamline the process and arrangement of business travel by managing travel-related expenses while complying with corporate travel policies.
It also includes tracking all expenses and aiding in travel risk management. Egencia also offers travel consulting services.
Egencia used to be part of the travel company Expedia, but American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) acquired the company in 2021. As part of the transaction, Expedia Group became a shareholder in GBT.
Egencia is a reputable company with solid backing from one of the world's top B2B (Business to Business) travel platforms.

How much does Egencia cost?
Egencia doesn't share any pricing information on their website, and you need to contact them to get a quote. They state that this is intentional because corporate travel can differ greatly in pricing depending on businesses and their needs.
Various independent, third-party review platforms indicate that the most common users of Egencia are from Enterprises (1,001+ employees). That might give you an indication of the types of price ranges they are dealing with.
Egencia's best features
Egencia covers all the essential travel management features that you would expect from a top-tier platform. Therefore for this review, we only discuss the most unique additional features Egencia offers below:
Traveler tracker
Unfortunately, traveling is never completely risk-free, no matter where we go. When a crisis does happen, for example, a volcano in Iceland disrupts flights over Europe again, Egencia's traveler tracker makes it easy to assess who is affected within seconds.
With a click of a button, a travel manager can get an overview of affected travelers and send them an email or push notification. No more scrambling to figure out who of your employees are in what part of the world at any given moment.
Egencia Analytics Studio
The analytics studio allows you to estimate how your company's business travel contributes to business, whether through closing deals or building professional relationships.
If you need to provide your board or CFO with proof of how investing in a sound corporate travel management system can save a company money in the long run, then this is the feature you'll be most excited about.
Sustainability Options
More and more companies emphasize managing a business travel program that supports sustainable travel.
Egencia supports this goal in a couple of different ways. For example, you can view rail options on their air search page, allowing you to opt for alternative train options for the same flight routes.
Their app allows you to select public transport options and search for eco-friendly car rentals such as hybrid and electric vehicles.
Egencia also offers carbon offset initiatives through partners such as atmosfair, Climate Neutral Group (CNG), and Climate Partner for advice on sustainability projects.

All-in-one support with Egencia Advantage
While many corporate travel management platforms position themselves as the all-in-one solution, Egencia appears to put its money where its mouth is. The add-on feature Egencia Advantage is geared at taking care of those small but impactful things that can make or break a trip.
They've partnered with companies to bring clients everything they could need on a business trip. For example, you can store your passport information on the Egencia platform, which allows you to quickly find out whether you need a visa for a trip. If you require a visa, it can arrange visa applications via the platform.
Egencia helps you quickly sort out compensation for canceled or delayed flights in the EU, and you can also book all the types of insurance you could need on the platform.
Drawbacks of Egencia
It might not be the perfect fit for smaller companies, startups, or solo-preneurs.
While this isn't necessarily a con depending on the type of company, smaller companies might be better off opting for a different provider. Many of Egencia feature's such as its advanced analytics, only pay off if used for more people.
Complicated Booking Interface
Many users on Egencia reviews online have expressed the issues with how complicated the flights, hotels, and rental bookings are in Egencia's interface.
Some users indicated that competitors often provided combined packages that allow travelers to book package deals all in one click. Other users expressed the frustrations of having to sometimes specify in detail every phrase of the booking process, which makes travel management platform pointless if the process isn't being expedited on Egencia.
Expensive
Some travelers have complained that cheaper budget airlines or the option for the basic economy fare are not readily available Egencia. This makes Egencia a costly choice for companies on tighter budgets than huge enterprises.
No integration with Airbnb
While travelers can book a wide range of hotel options at a competitive rate, there's no option to book on Airbnb. While this may not be a disadvantage for all travelers, many people use Airbnb for business trips.
Given that competing travel management platforms such as TravelPerk offers it, Egencia users undoubtedly suffers from our perspective.

Is Egencia worth it?
Egencia is a stellar option for large enterprises with multiple employees traveling simultaneously to different regions. Its additional features, such as its Traveler Tracker and Egencia Advantage options, certainly put it in a class of its own.
Based on recent reviews of the acquisition by AMEX, Egencia placed a larger focus on corporate and large businesses. While this might not be true, that might be something you should consider if you're a small business looking to invest in Egencia.
Generally, Egencia's features is better suited to enterprise and corporate businesses than small and medium companies with fewer employees. With these benefits and drawbacks in mind, you'll be in the know on whether Egencia is worth it for your business or corporate travel management system!
