Fun facts
Otokoyama Hachiman-gu is the only shrine in Japan directly associated with a castle.
Historical records show that Himeji Castle lords, including Matsudaira Naonori and Sakakibara Masakuni, renovated the shrine buildings in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Sakakibara Masakuni donated a gold-leafed sacred mirror, stone lanterns, and ema (votive tablets), making the shrine exceptionally magnificent.
