The location is undeniably excellent - just steps from Gran Vía and an easy walk to...There’s quite a bit of range in what “four-star” can mean, and 7 Islas falls toward the lower end of that spectrum. The location is undeniably excellent - just steps from Gran Vía and an easy walk to many of Madrid’s key sights. The on-site bar and breakfast room are also lovely; the breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful, and the bar serves a fantastic house-made vermouth that’s well worth trying. However, other aspects of the stay left something to be desired. The staff were not especially warm or attentive. For example, when I arrived with two elderly relatives and multiple suitcases, the front doors (which are not automatic) were difficult to manage and the two reception staff, who were deep in conversation, neither acknowledged our struggle to enter nor assisted us. The hotel’s aesthetic also feels a bit dated: a minimalist, industrial-modern look that doesn’t offer much warmth or character. The rooms were clean, but the bedding and towels were not of the quality I would expect at this price point and star level. In summary: excellent location and a great bar and breakfast, but service and comfort could be improved to match the hotel’s four-star designation.Show More

Incredibly well located, the hotel is cool, chic, comfortable and sleek. The bar is great, the living spaces downstairs make you feel like you are at home. The room (facing the interior courtyard) was very silent, well designed, ingeniously manufactured furniture. The bathroom was spacious, clean, had everything you would expect in a nice hotel. The linens were superb, the bed and pillows great. The area surrounding the hotel is very trendy, being a few steps away from Gran Via, so you can be in the middle of the hustle of the neighbourhood or take a short stroll to calm, almost private, streets, museums and the like. I asked the hotel to hold my luggage for the day (had a late night flight), and was offered a huge space to hold my suitcase and my backpack. It is really well thought-out! Would definitely recommend, and will definitely stay there again.Show More

The front doors aren't automatic which is inconvenient when you have luggage (going in or out) or strength/mobility issues; staff is officious and unfriendly, except for maybe one female; there are no perks for staying such as a welcome drink; towels are thin and robes are on the threadbare side; decor is too industrial and it isn't charming. Great location and easy walk to 3 metro stops and cool neighborhoods; and across the street from a very well stocked convenience store (fresh morning croissants, wine, cava, chocolate, etc). Very clean facility and rooms. Request a quiet room which will have a view of the light well but will be quiet. The price point was high for a less than 4 star hotel.Show More
