The staff, layout, decor, and amenities were first rate. I stayed in one of the pool suites, which had a beautiful balcony! And the views from the rooftop and proximity to iconic Capitol Records building are fantastic. On the negative side, other reviewers have commented on the noise levels. I found the ambient noise actually to be quite low, though there is almost constant noise from the outside, whether it’s conversations at the pool several floors below you can hear clearly, the nightclub next door, or the endless things going on from Hollywood Boulevard. One other personal gripe was the valet parking fee. I had a guest visit for a less than 2 hour dinner on a quiet Monday night and the charge was $44. Completely absurd!!!! I know LA parking rates are high, but this a shocker!Show More

Pros: Good location- I felt like I was able to get to every place I needed easily, whether it was around the city or getting on the highway and driving further outside of LA Friendly Staff- Every staff member I interacted with was pleasant. They always welcomed us back with a smile after being out for the day. Clean Room- Room and bathroom were clean. Amenities- Though our schedules didn’t allow us to take advantage of the hotel amenities, I appreciate how many there were. Cons: Staff communication- Simple information like WiFi or how to access housekeeping and front desk was not communicated (not on phone). Staff responsiveness- I asked for extra towels and never got them. I had to remind the front desk. I ended up getting them the next day. It’s an older property that was recently renovate and very nicely done. The fixtures and details have so much character & charm yet all the top notch amenities a 5-star hotel is expected to have. The room is HUGE…620 sq. ft. with separate sitting & dining areas, a very spacious bathroom, and the most comfortable king size bed. They upgraded our room to a poolside unit which was very much appreciated. There’s also a balcony with a seating area accessible from the room. We will definitely be coming back to The Aster on our next stay in the L.A. area. Show More

Staff at check-in was overly forward, preemptively trying to upsell us on a room because we would have noise issues and making fun of a guest's name. Our shower was backed up when we checked in. I called to have it fixed, and I think they sent someone but it was not fixed by the time we checked out. We had to take short showers in a couple inches of water. No accommodations for this gross issue; just a "sorry that happened" while we checked out. There was noise from the venue next door but I saw that in the reviews when booking. If that bothers you book a courtyard room. Show More
