We recently stayed at Candi Beach Resort for 15 nights—our longest vacation in 10 years. I can confidently say we could not have chosen a better hotel/resort than Candi Beach for such an extended stay.
The staff were consistently very nice and accommodating, and almost all employees spoke good English, which was very appreciated throughout our time there. We stayed in a bungalow with a tropical garden view, and the surroundings were very nice and relaxed.
The Positives
* Dining: We had a breakfast package, and even with our long stay, it never felt repetitive. They offered a good variety of eggs, always fresh and made exactly how we wanted, along with plenty of pastries and fresh fruit. The fresh fruit corner was a unique highlight—we could choose any fruit, and it was peeled and cut for us in front of us. This was excellent for ensuring we enjoyed fresh fruit every day, alongside a variety of fresh juices.
* Excursions: The resort arranges trips at a very good price. We were initially wary as the agency does not have many reviews, but the service was very good, and their drivers spoke good English.
* Flexibility & Service: We received a complimentary 15-minute massage, which was nice. When we asked to check out 30 to 45 minutes later than the usual time, the resort had no problem accommodating the request.
* Pool Area: The infinity pool had a great view of the beach and the ocean. We particularly appreciated that the resort enforces rules against reserving sunbeds when guests are not present; employees checked this regularly. This system ensured sunbed sets were always available.
There were a few small things we wanted to mention:
* Bed Linen Change: Given the very hot weather, it would be beneficial to change the bed sheets for guests staying longer than one week. I mentioned this to Trista, and even though we only had four days left in our stay, she immediately arranged the change for us. Thank you for being so helpful, Trista—you are a gem.
* Cleaning Service/Privacy: We usually do not use cleaning service every day and utilize the "privacy"/"do not disturb" sign. At this resort, however, we repeatedly received official letters (at least 6) stating they wanted to service our room but could not because of the sign. While we understand the desire to ensure a clean room, receiving these letters made us feel uncomfortable, as if we had done something wrong.
* Evening Programme: There was almost no evening programming during our stay (maybe one night we knew of). It might be good to offer some live music or events and have the information available in the lobby.
* Ventilation: There are no windows that can be opened in the bungalow, meaning no way to get fresh air circulation. We could open the door, but since it faces a highly frequented path on one side and our bed on the other, we either lacked fresh air or sacrificed privacy.
* The biggest concern we would like to mention is the use of a chemical spray for mosquitos that is very strong. My partner became sick from the fumes both times it was used. It would be helpful if the resort mentioned the scheduled spraying time prior to doing it so guests can ensure they are not in their bungalow at that time.
Other than the points mentioned above, I can honestly say the resort deserves a 5-star rating. This rating is not only for the beautiful surroundings but mainly because of their employees. The staff are always attentive, friendly (sometimes almost too nice, where others might take advantage and not treat them well), and consistently check on your well-being. We have visited about 15 countries in 10 years, and this was the first time we came across such exceptionally nice personnel.Show More
