The hotel was easy to find, as it’s centrally located. We went away for a much needed break as a couple. Check-in was hard work as there seemed to be a problem with our booking from what we observed. ...The hotel was easy to find, as it’s centrally located. We went away for a much needed break as a couple. Check-in was hard work as there seemed to be a problem with our booking from what we observed. We’re genuine and understanding people but we appreciate honesty. After all, we paid for a 4* hotel. During check-in the receptionist (laura) spoke to her colleague whilst we were at desk. Her colleague looked as if she knew there was an error. The receptionist serving us arrogantly shrugged at her colleague before telling us we had been “upgraded” with minimal eye contact and an attitude problem. She also gave us a free voucher for a glass of cava (we don't drink). This experience was condescending as we could see there was an issue and she chose not to be honest. We booked a superior room as the suites were sold out and we were given a deluxe (rm312) which was far from that. The air con was broke, it was also very small (see pic). I saw the same receptionist at check out using her personal phone so I didn’t take our experience as personal but the customer service here should be reviewed. That said, the other staff went above and beyond which was nice to see in a four star rated hotel. It was clean and the facilities were good overall. Even a card discrepancy was handled so politely and efficiently by Laura via email pre stay. During my stay, at check in I was upgraded to the most beautiful room on the top floor. Incredible views from the terrace and huge room, comfortable extremely large bed, dressing area and fabulous bathroom. I cannot fault this hotel in any way, great location, wonderful team and my colleagues and I felt really looked after! The front office team are fabulous, particularly Sabrina who was so personable, helpful and recommended a brilliant tapas restaurant which was an easy 10min walk away. Thank you for a lovely stay in Barcelona.Show More

The hotel was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located—close to all the main attractions, shops, and conveniences. The nightmare began right from check-in, which happened at 4 AM- Our arrival time. The person at the check in desk was rude and argumentative. My parents- Both senior citizens were tired after the long journey, and we received no courtesy from him. This was despite my clarifying everything in advance over 16 email thread, and having paid for the entire reservation in advance. I thought it would get better from here, but to no avail. They charge for ridiculous things like keeping the fridge empty. We just wanted Space to store our Water, but there was none and they mentioned there would be a five euro charge to remove their items. So basically, your room doesn’t have a fridge. They don’t even give you water to drink- because ‘Barcelona has a water shortage’ as a lady at the reception said. But of course you can pay for the expensive water in the mini fridge. Initially it became a running joke between us about what all they could possibly charge us for and what our final bill will be. The hotel is overall decent and we desperately wanted to get past all these issues. We ignored the add on charges but on our last few nights, even the air conditioning was barely working. When I called the reception to complain, I was just told: ‘Sorry. There is no service staff available and no extra room’ so I will just have to put up with it. Now imagine sleeping without proper air conditioning in Barcelona Heat wave in a “4 star” hotel. At 4 AM on check in they had all the staff to charge us small amounts like a supplement and city tax. But at 1am when you’ve already paid everything- they have no one to help if your room is too hot to sleep. Clearly had no courtesy to make my stay more comfortable or even offer to refund part of the money for a night. I don’t know how this Hotel is in the hospitality industry because they clearly have no idea what the word means. You may think that you don’t need Service because you’ll barely stay in your hotel. Or this was a one off and it will not happen to you- I thought the same when I read the negative reviews. Unfortunately, I learnt my lesson the hard way. I’ve travelled to over 35 countries and this is easily one of the worst stays ever.Show More
