One queen bed and one nightstand with the desk and TV almost touching the end of the bed. We had to move a floor lamp and use our cooler as a night stand on the other side. The coffee maker was located in the bathroom..??? The shower looks like it's adjustable but it's not; it's locked in position, which was very uncomfortable for my 6'3" husband as the water hit him just below the chin. I'm 5'8" and I could easily touch the ceiling while standing flat footed. We had the definite impression we were staying in what used to be a closet or storage space of some kind. Outside the room was an ice machine and a vending machine. The vending machine made a horrible racket; we saw repair people working on it twice while we were there. It made sleeping...challenging.
We were on the second floor and the road noise was terrible. The "view" of The Bridge touted in their advertising was two spires, almost invisible through the grime on the windows that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The windows had been bolted shut, I assume for small child safety reasons. But that also meant that we couldn't open the window to take decent pictures. Also, since it's listed in the advertising, we assume there would be a fridge in the room. Nope. When I asked about it, I was told it was available for an additional daily charge. Since we were already paying an extra $35/day for parking (in the 9th circle of narrow concrete purgatory as per the Hubs), I declined. The Best Western Plus in Butte, MT, was worth 10x this room - and at half the price! Yes, I know it's San Francisco and San Francisco is expensive, but some things should be basic amenities - like a fridge in a room.
Cell phone data is blocked in the rooms. It's literally 40x faster across the street at Chico's Pizza (which is very tasty, by the way).
A modest breakfast was provided, but there was not enough seating so we ended up eating in the room almost every day.
While we were there (9/2025), California was in the midst of yet another COVID outbreak. Yet the stairways were all alarmed so you had no choice but to use the small, COVID-friendly elevators.
The final thing that really rankled me was that when I was making the reservation, I was asked if there was anything the hotel could do to make our stay special. I was actually very happy to answer that as this trip was a Bucket List item for my husband, who is a cancer patient. For various reasons, we had planned and had to cancel this trip twice. We were convinced we would never get the chance to make it. But here we were. So I explained why this trip was so special to us and that if they could do anything to help make it even more special, I would appreciate it.
Apparently to the hotel, that meant placing us in a tiny room built for midgets with no visible view, the sound of a jet engine running 24/7 in the hall directly across from the door, and exposing us to COVID at every opportunity.Show More
