Technically , an extra person was added. The price I searched on trip.com did not change, so I didn’t think to modify the number of guests. After all, modifying it would also incur fees. So I did not bother of amending the nunber of guests.
Upon arriving at the hotel, a foreign staff member at the front desk said that having an extra person would incur an additional charge of 25% per night. I initially paid for one night (since I wasn’t sure if the added family member would stay for another night; I stated that if they decided to stay for a second night, I would pay at checkout).
He explained that guests remaining after 10 PM would incur a charge.
However, I raised the question of why there was no price difference between two and three people online if no additional bed was requested. Yet, upon arrival, I was being charged extra. He replied, "Because with an extra person, we provide more services."
I asked, "What kind of services?" He said, "You will get more towels." I replied, "I won’t use or request more towels." The front desk officer just gave me a dismissive response, citing hotel policy.
Once up in the room, it looked like it had been tidied up haphazardly. There was a large clump of hair on the floor, and the towels had hair and stains on them. I noticed two bottles of water and thought, “Where is this extra service?” He didn’t proactively offer more water or supplies during check-in either.
The hotel provided a kitchen, but there were hidden fees at the front desk. It was stated that if any dishes were left unwashed or dirty before leaving the hotel, they would charge extra. However, I found that one cupboard with dishes was locked.
Additionally, the room facilities were not ideal. There were burnt-out light bulbs, some lights had no plugs, and the fan was dusty. The floor and walls were somewhat worn.
Since we were staying for two nights, I didn’t want to deal with changing rooms, but their hidden fees caused pressure for me and my family, fearing we might stain the only towels we needed (the towels on the bathtub floor).
On the first night, when we returned from dinner, there was no one at the front desk. On the second night, we returned at 8 PM, and again, no one was at the front desk. At 9 PM, when I wanted to sleep, the room phone rang.
The front desk said, "Hey, how are you?" I responded, "I'm good. Who are you?" He said, "I'm good too." He didn’t identify himself but simply reminded me that I hadn’t paid for the extra person’s cost for the second night. I was taken aback. It was 9 PM, and they were calling my room to hurry me to pay. Clearly, I was checking out the next morning. Besides, when we returned there was no one at the front desk; it felt like we were being monitored, even though I had hung the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door.
All the housekeepers and the two Asian front desk staff members were really friendly (there were only three front desk staffs). But my family's overall experience was marred by the treatment from a specific staff member.
By the way, this hotel only provides bottled water for the first night. Furthermore, there is an extra fee for storing luggage after checkout.Show More
