There was something familiar about this hotel just by the approach 5 minutes from Angel underground & in looking back at our pictures we realised that we had stayed here back in 2019. On this occasion...There was something familiar about this hotel just by the approach 5 minutes from Angel underground & in looking back at our pictures we realised that we had stayed here back in 2019. On this occasion we booked a King Double with access to the Executive Lounge. We came here around 1pm and were greeted appropriately with the offer to take our suitcases whilst we went out our business for the day. We were told our room would be ready at 2pm & I must say I was impressed as most hotels are usually 3pm. We walked 15-20mins to Kings Cross underground as Angel was having temporary problems where you could exit but you couldn’t depart. On returning to the hotel, we checked in having not being able to do so the day before through the app. Reception was very welcoming and courteous. We were told about the Executive Lounge offer and asked if we wanted to add breakfast to which we declined. The room was much as we remembered, adequate size, but refurbished. The bathroom was great as it no longer had a bath, but a nice walk in shower. There was no upgrade in the offer such as slippers or bath robe & very surprisingly there was no bottles of water in the room. The storage was adequate for a two night stay and the bed was very comfortable. Our room was serviced after the 1st night during our absence. I did ask at reception on our first night if the hotel didn’t give warm cookies anymore on check in and they apologised and gave me 4 which lasted our two night stay - thanks. The Executive Lounge is available from 07:00 until 21:00 where you can help yourself to teas or coffee or soft drinks with alcoholic drinks & canopies food offer between 18:00 to 20:00. We had the pleasure to meet Mimi in the evenings who is a wonderful hostess. The Executive Lounge offers a very limited breakfast of toast, warm pastries and fruits. I would have expected at least single boxed cereals or overnight oats, they are available in the main breakfast so it wouldn’t have been difficult to have a few brought into the Executive Lounge. In place of a large breakfast, built a lunch stop into our day which actually made our day more pleasant. In all, I liked this hotel and would return if exploring this area of London in the future.Show More

When we expressed surprise and requested that the main course be served after we had eaten the starters, the waitress informed us that we should have specified this when we ordered?! Really? Who wants their fish and chips served with their bowl of soup? Very poor attitude and the manager was called but he did little to placate the situation saying some people do want it together. Well if this is the case, maybe that minority need to specify, or staff need to clarify when taking the order. Some very good service however, from reception check in ( I believe this was Harvey) and Cafe Bloom barman called Dase. Check in was efficient and welcoming, checking and ensuring our needs were met and the room allocated was very good, clean and comfortable. Dase the barman was also very efficient and obliging, his acknowledgement of our issue and pleasant and friendly manner helped to defuse the situation. This was in contrast to the manager who didn't seem particularly empathetic, just saying it would perhaps be included at staff training. Unfortunately, bad impressions are hard to forget and without the positive check in experience and the friendly service provided by Dase, we would not have given such a high rating.Show More
