I enjoyed the central location of The Fullerton Hotel very much, close to the water it offers for a nice stroll in the mornings and evenings. The facade of the building is quite impressive, historical.
Upon check-in, you are welcomed by very friendly staff. There was some wait time (Sunday late afternoon), but not too long. To find the reception is a bit of a search, it is not immediately visible upon entry, and signage is not evident. The friendly concierge is of course happy to indicate where to go.
I stayed in a premier courtyard room on the 3rd floor. It is of a decent size, and included a sofa, desk and small side table. Coffee maker included, with refills as appropriate. Modern television, and curtains that open/close by a press of the button. Room lighting that can be well adjusted. Wifi and AC worked well. Bathroom is well equiped, had a separate bath and shower, and a Japanese toilet. Mind your step when entering the bathroom, as it was slightly elevated.
The water temperature of the shower improved over time. First morning it was impossible to get it warm enough to my liking, second morning was slightly better. Third morning was perfect, subsequent days too hot but adjustable.
On day 2 I noticed there was an ionizer operating in the corridor next to my room, which left a very distinct and strong smell of ozon. It even had a sticker indicating "do not use in area when people are around". To my knowledge, ozon would indeed not be safe for people, and it is always recommended to thoroughly air out an area after use. I do not know how that would be done in a corridor. After alerting/asking the concierge, he was very understanding and the equipment was removed from my corridor, without discussion. The equipment was later that week found in operation on a different (8th) floor though by one of my travel companions (same sticker with warning included).
I typically went to have breakfast at 6:30am, which is when it opened. Friendly staff, some short wait as each guest is guided to their table, and there was only one host. Takes about a minute per guest in line.
Once you know where to look, you will find breakfast had good offerings overall. As the breakfast items are in different sections, some a couple of steps up/ not directly visible, it was not immediately obvious to me where to find what types of food/drinks. The food I tried was quite good.
While definitely good offerings, I do feel that the other hotel I stayed at last year had a significantly larger breakfast variety, e.g. warm dishes, but also different types of fruit - and I recall as more flavorful and displayed in a much more appealing manner. If a luxurious and big breakfast variety is "your thing", The Fullerton Hotel's offering may be slightly short of expectations.
Lunch (buffet) was, in my view, nothing special. Room service, in particular the truffle pasta, was delicious.
Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay. It is the location that is a big plus to me compared to prior experience, with breakfast being a bit less than expected.Show More
