We chose the hotel because of its location, which is great since it is close to anything of interest. Bus stops are within feet of hotel and train station within walking distance. Taxi's are available...We chose the hotel because of its location, which is great since it is close to anything of interest. Bus stops are within feet of hotel and train station within walking distance. Taxi's are available in minutes. The hotel is in very close proximity to a variety of and numerous eating establishments, while also having an excellent restaurant, CanBo, on site. The staff is very cordial, helpful and provided excellent service. The room was large and clean and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was nice with large towels. The windows have an internal shade, which is operated via an electric switch by the bed. With high temperatures during our stay, we easily kept the room cool to our comfort level. The hotel includes a spa consisting of a small sauna and steam room as well as a small exercise area. Massages and other treatments are at additional cost. There is a pool on the top floor with sun beds, which can be reserved up to 2 hours and also chairs and umbrellas for longer stay. Drinks and food can be ordered there as well. The room rate included buffet style breakfast, including fried and scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, breads, yogurts, juices, fresh fruit, pancakes, pastries, etc. Our only complaint is that the eggs and other foods that are customarily served warm, were cold. One can also order from a menu at an additional cost.Show More

The location was perfect for us to both sightsee and wander through the old streets of both the Gothic Quarter and Born as well as walk up to ...We absolutely loved our stay at the Grand Hotel Central. The location was perfect for us to both sightsee and wander through the old streets of both the Gothic Quarter and Born as well as walk up to Passeig de Gracia. We were there during Merce and there were 3 stages all within blocks of the hotel. The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly. At first we found our room lacking in storage space, but we quickly grew accustomed. I also have to say this was THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED EVER! And I would like to know what it was ;-) The rooftop terrace restaurant and pool were also lovely. Service was definitely on Spanish time on the roof so plan to relax and enjoy the views. Also very much enjoyed the breakfast buffet although it was a tad chaotic one morning. We stayed at a different hotel our final night in Barcelona and we both agreed we much preferred everything about the Grand Hotel Central. Would definitely stay there again.Show More

Because the only television shows showing are in those languages! The only two channels in English are BBC News and CNN news. They even take American programs and dubbed them in German in Spanish! I wish they would cater to the vast number of English speakers that come to Barcelona and other European cities. I was able to cast from my telephone onto the television so I could watch TV late at night because I couldn’t sleep. And then that ability went away very suspiciously. They have a cute little pool on the rooftop. But it’s not heated so that’s useless too much of the space taken. There is for lounges to be rented.Show More

Manuel was ...We had a wonderful stay at Grand Hotel Central. The location is fantastic, rooms were comfortable, clean and were decorated nicely. The customer service at the front desk was exemplary. Manuel was welcoming and gave some great recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants. He coordinated a last minute reservation for us at Sensi Tapas. Abdel also went above and beyond. When he found out that my husband and I were disappointed that we were not able to get into Arcano, a nearby restaurant, he used his personal connections there to get us a table. Both Manuel and Abdel went out of their way to ensure we had the best experience at the hotel and enjoyed our time in Barcelona. I highly recommend staying at Grand Hotel Central as well as the two restaurants we went to!Show More
