Bel Ami in Paris, and it was truly unforgettable. In my corporate experience of 40 years I learned this. "People make the difference." That couldn't be more true here. I want to highlight a few people who made our stay so memorable - Ibrahima N., Director of Operations; Christophe C., Chef Concierge; and Dhanylall T., Head Walter. They, along with the rest of the team, are the very best at what they do- genuinely making a difference. The General Manager Laurence Guiebretier was delightful, and she has a talent in hiring great people in the hospitality industry. Each day at Hotel Bel Ami we felt wonderful, and when we returned, it felt like coming home. Truly a gem in the heart of Paris. I booked a deluxe room 6 months in advance and requested a street facing room. When we arrived I was told I was “upgraded” to the apartment with a terrace. This room was not an upgrade as the bed was ...I booked a deluxe room 6 months in advance and requested a street facing room. When we arrived I was told I was “upgraded” to the apartment with a terrace. This room was not an upgrade as the bed was a queen (deluxe is king) and because the room was divided there was little space for luggage storage. Also the terrace was terrible. It is in an alleyway and looks directly into the office window of a neighboring building where a man was on the phone. We could not open the drapes cause the man was there so the room was very dark. When I asked for the room I booked, the deluxe, Ibrahim spent more than 10 minutes trying to convince me the terrace apartment was a better room. I was told people wait months for the terrace room (odd since it was available) and that the bed was a French king. Finally Ibrahim admitted the room I reserved was unavailable as it had been given to someone else but they could move me the next day. The deluxe room was much better, larger with a street view. Maybe Ibrahim believed the terrace room was better, I doubt it, but even if he did I did not and that should have ended the inquiry. The hotel is in a good location but service was not five star. Every staff member was pleasant, proactive, and genuinely attentive, anticipating needs with effortless professionalism. We visited Paris with family and friends to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday, and the team, especially Ambre and the Concierge team, went above and beyond — thoughtfully recognizing the occasion in the most memorable way. Even the bartenders exemplified this spirit of hospitality: professional, engaging, and intuitive, they made each cocktail experience both fun and refined. Breakfast was superb — fresh, beautifully presented, and abundant. When the hotel learned of our early departure, they graciously offered breakfast to go, another thoughtful touch that reflected their commitment to guest care. The staff welcomed us warmly, with balloons and personalized toys waiting for our boys in the room after check in. The rooms were beautiful with high quality materials, and the style of the hotel was fresh and modern with a hint of classic. My favorite combination. The morning breakfast was lovely, and the right mix of full service and casual for our family, and the location of the hotel was amazing. We easily walked to all of the top sights, but loved that we were tucked away from the top tourist spots so it felt more like real Paris.
