The Hilton Chicago is one of those hotels that, once upon a time, was a truly opulent hotel. Built in 1927, and having over three thousand rooms, this is one massive hotel. For example, simply walking...The Hilton Chicago is one of those hotels that, once upon a time, was a truly opulent hotel. Built in 1927, and having over three thousand rooms, this is one massive hotel. For example, simply walking to the room I had at my most recent visit was like going into a maze. You had to get out of the elevator turn left, turn right, turn left again, turn right until you followed it all the way to the end of the long hallway, and there was my room. It was actually kind of fun. In terms of the overall room design, they are very large. Yes, their rooms are very spacious. So, if you're looking for a hotel that gives you a nice place to dwell, with plenty of closet space, drawer space, a large bed, and seating area, a large closet, and a large bathroom, this hotel is a great choice. Though this is a truly grand hotel, it has become somewhat dated. Yes, they've tried to keep up with the times, but I think due to the massive amount of rooms they have, it's really hard to maintain the overall quality level of each room that makes up this hotel. For example, in my most recent room, the air conditioning system needed a belt or something, because it was constantly squeaking, plus the fan in the unit was loose, or something, so all night we were listening to this sound of pinging. This was very disconcerting as it did tend to keep us awake. The other thing I noticed was that the room safe was not functional. This was because, as was stated on the unit, the battery was low. So, I couldn't use it. Meaning, this is a really nice hotel, but they're just not taking great care of it, and keeping the rooms, fully functional, and guest friendly. In terms of getting to this hotel, as it is right on Michigan Avenue, just GPS it and you can easily find the hotel and enter the parking area. Once there, you either have a valet park your car or drive into self-parking, which is what I did. The staff here are all relatively nice and they their job fairly well. I would suggest that if you plan to stay at this hotel you definitely pay the price and get a room room that faces at the lake. Having a lake view room really takes your overall experience, at this hotel, up to the next level. So, if you're in Chicago, and you want to stay at a well-located hotel, with a long history, this may be the place for you. Just understand, that though it is trying hard to be a modern hotel, it does fall short in some areas.Show More

We had booked two nights at this hotel. Due to a hurricane, our flight was cancelled and we were unable to arrive until the second night of our reservation — a situation entirely beyond our control. When we finally arrived, exhausted and grateful just to have made it to the city, we were told by the front desk that our room had been cancelled and given away. No empathy. No assistance. No alternative accommodation. And no refund. Instead, we were met with shocking indifference and outright hostility from a staff member named Jeffrey, whose behavior was rude, patronizing, and condescending. His attitude made an already stressful situation infinitely worse. Rather than helping two stranded guests affected by a natural disaster, he seemed to take pleasure in being dismissive and unhelpful. We were left stranded in Chicago with nowhere to sleep — all because Hilton failed to uphold even the most basic standards of decency or hospitality. For a brand that claims to represent comfort, reliability, and care, this experience was the exact opposite. Hilton should be ashamed to have employees who treat guests with such contempt. That being said, certain members of the front desk were very kind and empathetic, but the situation seemed to be above their pay grade. If you’re considering staying at the Hilton Chicago — don’t. There are plenty of hotels in this city that actually understand the meaning of customer service.Show More

This property a...I have stayed at the Chicago Hilton downtown on several past business & conference trips & find the hotel, its amentities & staff over the moon in elegance, history & customer service. This property although older, has elequently appointed rooms, great fitness, spa & pool amentities & the elegance of a bygone era radiating throughout it. I had some TV issues one evening so Icalled the front desk & they had someone from maintenance at my room within about 5 minutes & he had the issue resolved in a matter of about 5 minutes. The staff are so pleasant & healpful to deal with, which makes the property that much more enjoyable. The hotel boasts several great restuarnts, lounges, stores & other amentities for guest & is loacted adjacent to a great park & is within walking distance of many other lovely parks, the marina, museum, etc. The hotel has many free games for travellers to use in the lobby suchs as; a giant coinnect 4, chess, pool, cornhole toss, etc. Likewise walk around the hotel & look at all the historical info on display, such as a listing of all the famous people, royalty & other famous digniteries that have stayed at this location. View the info on all the movies & TV shows that have been shot on location here & see how many of these you have seen. Whether your travelling for business or pleasure, I would highly recommend checking out this historical gem in the heart of downtown Chicago. There is something to see & do for every age group her & you won't be disappointed.Show More

She was super friendly and professional. She answered all of my questions and gave me great tips, regarding my stay in Chicago, while also sharing some good information about HGV (which I hadn’t heard of). She was not pushy and showed genuine excitement for future travel options. When I had dinner at Kitty O’Sheas, Dana was my server. She was quick, attentive and kind. Even with lots of people at different tables she made sure I had everything I needed without having to wait. These really lovely and unexpected interactions added to an already wonderful stay. My room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The availability of many options for food and snacks meant I didn’t have to venture out if I was too tired. The design & architecture feel both warm and historic. I like staying so close to a variety of great coffee shops and the proximity to really beautiful outdoor spaces, make this the perfect location. Would definitely stay here again if I come back to ChicagoShow More
