It was not a good start to our holiday and certainly not up to Holiday Inn ...This has to be one of the worst hotel rooms we’ve stayed in recently - certainly the worst on our 5 week trip to Australia. It was not a good start to our holiday and certainly not up to Holiday Inn standards. The free shuttle from the airport was useful but you have to call for pick up which is not easy if you don’t have local roaming set up when you arrive tired after a long international flight. Fortunately the information desk at Melbourne Airport were helpful and called the hotel and pointed us in the right direction. Check in staff at the hotel were friendly (as are all Australians in hospitality). They proudly told us that we had an upgraded room. I’d have hated to stay in the original room booked. The room was small and cold with dated furnishings and Artex textured paint on the ceiling like a basic Ibis hotel. The A/C was exceptionally noisy even when switched off there was still a tremendous roar from the corridor outside. We couldn’t be bothered to go back and ask for a different room as it was late and we were tired. Breakfast buffet was OK but very busy.Show More
