This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel in six weeks. The first time, staff were fairly sarcastic in an email to me, but I thought I’d give the place a second chance.

What wasn’t so good?
You have to go through the performance of ringing the doorbell and waiting for them to unlock the outer gate every time you want access to your room.
They insist you leave the key at reception every time you leave.
The television on our room had no signal, on any of the ten sources.
The water did not drain readily from the sink, or the shower. So after you have cleaned your teeth, the sink is half full of dirty water and after five minutes in the shower you are ankle deep in water.
The shower doors don’t close, meaning the floor floods every time you use the shower.
And everything seemed too much trouble for the staff. With the notable exception of the lady who checked us in the second time, who smiled, the others all seemed pretty miserable.
We were told that if we wanted breakfast we should notify reception the previous evening.
I notified reception at 21.30 on our second stay and was told no, you haven’t given us enough time. No breakfast for you.
Apparently, they need more than ten hours notice to put a cup of coffee and a bread roll together.
The lift takes forever to arrive on the third floor and only has the capacity to take two people, so as a final farewell, we had to walk down three flights of stairs with 36kgs of luggage after another couple took the lift ahead of us.
I will not be staying in this hotel again, not if it was to be the last hotel in Madrid!Show More
