I was nervous about the hotel when I booked it. The reviews suggested it might be daunting (they said it had lots of rules, policed use of water bottles and outside food etc). The reviews suggested it might be daunting (they said it had lots of rules, policed use of water bottles and outside food etc). The hotel does not allow outside food to be brought in and consumed. They do prefer guests to fill bottles with their water instead of buying many new plastic bottles. However, these are sensible policies and there are not lots of rules. The hotel has a certain formality and it may not suit everyone. When we were there most guests were middle aged or older or were families with children over five years old. Behind the formality are a group of staff who could not be more helpful. They were so great. Especially the effort that the reception and catering staff managed to give my partner a lovely birthday. The old world air of the hotel created a sense of calm and beauty which helped to relax everyone. The efficiency of the reception, housekeeping, portering, catering staff was wonderful. In summary, we loved the Hotel Giorgione. If we come to Venice again, there is no other place to stay.Show More

The hotel is old world elegant, spotlessly ...The hotel is perfectly located in a quiet ish neighborhood with nearby food and drink but a short walk from the more tourist popular spots around San Marco. The hotel is old world elegant, spotlessly clean and filled with pleasant and helpful staff. (special shoutout to Alessia who was funny and kind). The room was large and comfortable. (I do LOVE a firm mattress which you need after a day’s walking in Venice.) Breakfast was fresh and had lots of choices from fruit and yogurt to sweets, eggs and cured meats. Our one very small note would be that there was not a single drawer in the room — an armoire with cubbies, a safe and places to hang but no drawers. For a multi-day stay it would have been nice to be able to unpack some things in a chest. But this is a quibble. I’d stay there again tomorrow and I wish I were doing that.Show More
