We spent two nights at Hotel Kette prior to travelling to Ravenna to pick up a cruise. We have been to Venice several times previously and there are other hotels we have stayed at I would choose ahead...We spent two nights at Hotel Kette prior to travelling to Ravenna to pick up a cruise. We have been to Venice several times previously and there are other hotels we have stayed at I would choose ahead of Hotel Kette. In fairness, its location is superb, a few minutes walk from St. Mark's Square , the prime shopping sites literally outside the door and some good restaurants within easy walking distance. It was also convenient for picking up the water taxi and the 'Vaporetto', in fact we were dropped by water taxi at the side door on the canal of the hotel itself which was a great experience amongst all the Gondoliers. The Concierge who greeted us at the canal side door and took us to our room was excellent. Our 'Classic' room was small but well furnished and even though it looked out over a dull back wall, the net curtains hid the meagre view so it didn't unduly bother us. We had breakfast the first morning and it was dire. The waiters aren't particularly efficient nor friendly and the quality of the food was probably the worst 'continental' breakfast I have ever experienced. Wafer thin ham and cheese slices almost carpaccio style made it difficult to put on the plate and it was tasteless. Coffee appeared to come out of a machine but was served in silver jugs and we decided not to bother the second morning even though it was included in our rate. What really made it quite farcical was that the waiters were swanning around in bow ties, starched shirts and dinner jackets to oversee such a lack of quality and meagre ingredients. The Ritz it was not! My biggest gripe is the prices charged which despite the location, were hugely inflated for the product we received. I would not have chosen this hotel but it was allocated by our cruise company. Look elsewhere is my recommendation, there are much better options around to experience the true Venice at far greater value for what you get!.Show More

It is within a 5-7 minute walk to boat transport. The staff is multilingual and very helpful. Breakfast was satisfactory and the hotel was very clean. The only complaint is the extreme firmness of the beds. I’d like to give a 5 star rating, but because of the beds, I’ve given it a 4. Honestly, I don’t think I could have slept another night on the bed (stayed 2 nights). If replacing the mattresses isn’t an option,a mattress topper to provide more cushion could make a big difference in the comfort of sleep.Show More

Easy walk to the Rialto Bridge. Convenient for the boat buses to take you to the other islands such as Murano and Burano. Staff were extremely friendly and polite and always dressed so smart. We had a room overlooking the canal which was quiet. My only issue was that there was no walk in shower in our room but a shower in the bath which is not great for me but the hotel provided a non slip mat immediately I explained the problem. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice.Show More
