I was drawn by the price, which was super cheap, to spend my last night in Kyoto here. The hotel stands about 200m from Omiya Station on the Hankyu Line, which is very convenient for day trips to Osak...I was drawn by the price, which was super cheap, to spend my last night in Kyoto here. The hotel stands about 200m from Omiya Station on the Hankyu Line, which is very convenient for day trips to Osaka or Arashiyama, while buses towards Downtown can get crowded. However, the area around Omiya, especially towards Karasuma and Oike Roads is lovely, easy to walk, lots of traditional houses and smaller shops and restaurants. I walked to City Hall one morning and came across dozens of really lovely places. Lots of tourists on the main road, much fewer in the blocks around the hotel. Staff spoke great English, stored my luggage, friendly welcoming manned reception. The communal areas were spacious, with a nice-looking common room/cafe in the back with chairs and tables for working. My room, though small,had everything one could need - very comfortable bed, small desk, small but very easy to use bathroom, it is a business style hotel, but comfy and friendly and not completely boring. It was great value for money and the staff were very helpful and friendly (excellent English too!) I was particularly attracted to this hotel as it had a bath and laundry facilities, which my previous accommodation didn't offer. It was the perfect way to relax after a busy few days exploring. It's also very centrally located with lots of late-night shops and bars nearby. Plus, two train stations that take you to the main attractions. Very walkable and solo-traveller friendly!Show More
