It's ideally located near Nijo-ji castle and the Imperial Palace. It's also situated smack in the middle of 2 major subway stations (Karasuma Line and the Tozzi line). There's many convenience stores and an underground shopping center at the Metro station. The hotel has a small onsen an amenities at the reception. The exterior decoration is pleasant. A Maiko comes for hotel guests on weekdays. The performance is for guests only, and lasts 20 mn.Show More

The bed was comfortable. As a westerner I didn’t like the heat of the room but as soon as I mentioned this it was changed- we are not used to central control. The main reason I booked this hotel was the onsen facility. After walking a lot during the days it is a wonderful way to relax. The whole ritual of taking the bath is one of my daughter and my favourite elements of visiting Japan. The neighbourhood of the hotel is interesting to explore with galleries, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Staff at reception will make reservations if required. Try the meat at Terasan only two minutes away! It’s not a fancy place, but the meat was superb. If you don’t want to be in the middle of the tourist hotels and crowds, the hotel offers a calm respite. Teramachi is a short walk as is Kyoto Gyoen, and in between you can find Kyoto beyond TikTok and IG. I will stay here again.Show More

It has an excellent location: a 15 minute walk into the historic Gion Distrit, very near Nishiki market, and steps away from the Metro network, restuarants and bars. The building is tucked away on a very quiet side street, we never heard a peep from the street. The hotel itself is modern, clean and very comfortable. A number of free tourist maps and brochures are available on site, which is helpful and very convenient. Our room was spacious, the beds and pillows were exceptionally cozy, our en-suite had all that was needed, and everything was very clean. The onsen was an added bonus. We really enjoyed the free Maiko dancing exhibition in the hotel lobby every evening (except Sunday). This provided a charming end to busy sightseeing days and was a welcome break before dinner.Show More

The lobby already gave premium and cultural feel as soon as we walked in and they were able to check us in early because our room was ready even though we arrived nearly 2 hours before scheduled check-in time. The room appeared much more spacious than described, making good use of of the space, and the added elements of more traditional ryokan-esque features made the room even better (tatami mat flooring, sliding door to separate room and entrance walkway/bathroom, window screens, etc.). Loved a lot of things about this hotel and would certainly welcome a stay again.Show More
