Maybe we are very unlucky but there always seems to be one or two niggles. First piece of advice to future guests is make sure you know exactly what room you have booked. RH Hotels like to give their rooms exotic and occasionally misleading names (and none more so than the RH Victoria). This time we booked a Dream Room. In reality it was just a basic 2nd floor room (The RH Royal, which is opposite, refers to the exact same room as a Comfort Room). October 1st was the start of an unexpected heatwave, and room air conditioning was switched off. Quite unpleasant as our room was just too hot at night and also during day. The room air conditioning finally became room functional on the afternoon of the 3rd. When we were checking in, reception were asking for nearly a 100 euros more than the booking price. We had booked with hotel, and I dug out the confirmation which verified my understanding of the price, and this was reluctantly excepted. However, this was not the end of it. When we checked out, reception made another attempt to charge us the extra money. It was a different member of staff who, to be fair, was very apologetic when we again produced the confirmation letter. During our four day stay, it was very hot, and like many others we spent much time by the bar. Surprisingly, the pool bar was not open. If you wanted a drink, you had to go into the hotel, get a lift to the reception level, go in the bar, and then bring it back. One last point, and it is a very small point, and in someways quite amusing. Butter is freely available at breakfast time, but nowhere to be seen at lunch and breakfast time. A strange state of affairs as fresh bread is available at all times. I mentioned this on previous reviews, but nothing much has changed. However, I can tell you that a small supply is usually hidden away in a pint sized plastic white pot, by one of the staff stations, next to the cutlery. The above is unfortunate as the Hotel has many excellent features. But big reputations raise expectations. On a more general note. As with the other two near RH Hotels (Royal and Princesa), the hotel is situated perfectly in the centro area, as close to all three beaches, the old town, the harbor etc. The british clubbing area is an 8 euro taxi ride. All 3 mentioned RH Hotels, have food standards and menu quality that are way above the majority of rival local hotels. There is a chargeable spar area in this hotel. Guests are welcomed to the entertainment program, at hotel and also at the RH Royal, opposite.Show More

There are three rather small lifts. The middle one will only hold a wheelchair and one other person at a squeeze. The other two lifts will only take the person in their wheelchair. The downside is that at mealtimes you may have to wait about twenty minutes to get an empty lift. The food I’m sad to say is very inadequate and actually of poor quality and very much choice. The first night we arrived and were in the restaurant at 7.30pm. You would think that the food should be hot, no chance. The soup was tepid and totally tasteless. The roast beef was not much better. You would expect that would be hot, no, most of the meals were tepid. The next night it was supposed to be chicken noodle soup. That soup was hot but tasteless and not much chicken and not a noodle to be found. That same night they had cold undercooked Monk fish. It has been dreadful so far. I did make a complaint to the restaurant maitre de! We will see what happens tonight. Needless to say I don’t think we will be coming back to the hotel RH VICTORIA!Show More

We booked a “no view” delux room” we were allocated room 1804 on the 18th floor. Wow, the room was huge, to double beds pushed together. And a double balcony with spectacular sea views. The room was clean and serviced daily. We were half board, breakfast was excellent. Evening meal very good, the food is top quality. On our final day we had a late flight, checked out 12 noon, case in secure room and out to enjoy the day. Came back, provided with towels and shampoos and shown down to the spa shower rooms. The hotel is in a great position, 5 minutes walk to the centre of the old town or come out turn down to the sea and you are on Levante seafront in 5 minutes. The clientele is mainly mature folk which is what i want, nice peaceful nights sleep. There is entertainment on every night but we were out partying on the strip so didnt see any. Our last trip we stayed in the new swanky h10 poniente which as nice but The Victoria is better. Highly recommend.Show More

Staff are fantastic. Speaking of staff, I must especially mention Alex on Reception, who helped me when I lost my mobile phone in the taxi when I arrived. He was fabulous helping me in a very stressful situation, phoning my (lost mobile) number, speaking to the taxi firm, and arranging for my phone to be delivered to the Victoria within a couple of hours. That's what I call wonderful customer service. Also a shout out to the dining room staff - Carla, Paquita (the little pocket rocket) and Dario, my nephew's look a like! They really are so friendly and a credit to the Victoria.Show More
