Location is also brilliant and the lounge beautiful. However I need to be honest to other guests about the things that went wrong. These are to do with care over belongings and customer relations itself, rather than the facilities: 1. Belongings thrown out / missing As a warning to future guests, we had a situation where the cleaner came into our room and 'threw out' bags of shopping that had documentation and dust bags in, on the basis the shopping bags were in the bathroom. Although the hotel decided this was a mistake, we can't be sure this wasn't theft, or attempted theft. Luckily, there was no shopping in the bag, but there could've been, and identity documents were in fact in that bag. Meanwhile, empty crisp packets and other shopping bags were left alone. I give credit to the hotel that, after a lot of negotiation, they eventually gave a discount on the room, but they pushed back on this extensively and caused our group stress. Just reading the other reviews, it seems that other people have had similar situations in recent months i.e. Ray Bans stolen from cars left at the garage. 2. Double charged an inaccurate amount and subsequent non-sterling fees incurred I paid at the hotel on one card, and then found out they had charged the card on record too - a higher amount than agreed, even excluding the discount I had agreed due to the disposal of my belongings. This left me shorted with the currency conversion when it was eventually refunded (10 days later) and I incurred non-sterling charges with my bank too. When queried about this mistake I received word for word the following email: 'Why should we have to pay your bank commission?'. If it's not obvious, Hotel Roma made the mistake - not me, and not the bank.Show More

Our room was located in the separate annex, I knew this when booking, it wasn’t a problem for us to climb the stairs to the 5th floor every time. The room was comfortable and very clean. We were pleasantly surprised to be offered breakfast as our room was not located in the main hotel. Breakfast was a basic continental but all you need to start the day. Overall our stay was quite good value, some hotels are extremely expensive in a Florence. Hotel was clean but a little dated. Staff were all lovely and helpful.Show More

The stairs are many and steep, but we were prepared. The room was well appointed, clean and a view of Florence life from the window. The bed was extremely comfortable, despite actually being a sofa bed. Breakfast was the typical buffet with pastries, and an assortment of fruit, meat, cheeses, eggs, etc. The coffee came from a machine, which was a little disappointing, We only stayed one night and would consider staying here again.Show More
