Porta (besides having e...The location is excellent- minutes from the Nidec Kyoto Tower, with a direct entrance to Porta underground shopping mall directly in front of the hotel entrance for rainy days. Porta (besides having excellent food and shopping) also connects to Kyoto Station and has a direct connection pass to Avanti (a mall with Donki, GU, Seriya, and Kyoto's Animate for those for those interested), leading to a great experience if you're not in Kyoto for shrine-hopping. We stayed at the family suite, and it was spacious and the amenities were great. Heated toilet! A huge bathroom with a nice big tub! The provided toiletries were also great quality. Each floor seems to only have two rooms, so it's a nice private experience. I loved staying here and would stay here again.Show More

The room photos looked great too, but what truly surprised us was how spacious the room actually was compared to our previous stay in Tokyo. Having that much extra space was fantastic. Having no "visible" reception staff to check-in was a new thing for us, and we needed assistance which we got immediately and from then on it was just a matter of using a PIN code to enter the hotel lobby/lifts area. It felt like we were just going home to our apartment with nobody around, and no lingering guests congesting common areas as such in a typical hotel scenario - I really enjoyed this aspect. I’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it.Show More
