Th...Apologies in advance for the long review but stick with me. First up, in our eyes this is not for tourists but more a corporate hotel. Every day we were there it was predominantly corporate people. That said, if you are doing any future Chicago Marathons, this the perfect location for it. We arrived and were greeted by Raymond at reception. More about Raymond later, but everything was explained clearly, and we signed up for the regency club option including breakfast. Well worth it, but I had asked about this option prior to arrival and was told it didn’t exist. Also, if you are a Brit, be sure to ask for a kettle for the room. The $700 holding fee and $25 daily destination fee is not something I have ever encountered and took a huge chunk of our holiday budget. The rooms were immaculate and very well laid out and comfortable. Maintained throughout the whole week by Sara our lovely housekeeper. We experienced using the Regency club and were well looked after every day by Donte and Glenda, both really good hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the Regency was ok but surrounding were comfortable. The Market there is best avoided as it just gets too busy at peak times and staff there are not the best. We ate every morning and most evenings at the Craft Kitchen. Marie and her team including Carlton, and Lucy who looked after us most mornings were absolute work horses with Manuel making the best omelettes. In fact, Marie was there more than anyone else and always so friendly no matter what time of day. In the evening, we were looked after by Lynn and Judy who always had plenty of banter with us and asked us about our day. The food was good in the Craft Kitchen too and plenty of different choices although Bacon, Egg and Chips for dinner was weird!! The only issue was a phone call from a chap called Alex who was extremely rude about our room bill towards the end of the week. I came down to reception and was unable to resolve the issue and to this day still don’t know what it was about or why the rudeness. However, this was all resolved by one person, who in truth made our weeks day the best… And that was Raymond. Every time we went to reception, we dealt with him throughout and nothing was too much trouble. Always remembering our first names (bear in mind he dealt with hundreds of people while we were there) and plenty of advice too. All the staff mentioned are a real credit to your hotel, but Raymond was the best so please pass on our thanks to him for everything. Cannot wait to stay at another Hyatt or return to Chicago again.Show More

After a rough first night experience (related to a noisy connecting room neighbor at 2 am) interacting with the night time front desk supervisor, the rest of our stay was smooth sailing. It is very apparent that upper management genuinely cares about their guests' experiences. The property is beautiful, recently renovated, and very clean. We utilized a suite upgrade certificate to book a Riverview suite on the West tower and had a stellar view of the lake and city. The majority of the staff exuded genuine hospitality and made us feel very welcomed. We had breakfast at American Craft and dinner at Stetson's. Both were wonderful with very attentive wait staff. As I mentioned, most everyone we encountered was superb. Many thanks to Marie in American Craft, and Evelyn in security, (who handled our noise complaint). I would be absolutely remiss if I failed to give a special thanks to Sebastian, the QA supervisor. He went over and beyond to make us feel valued, and our interaction with him made all the difference in our stay. We would not hesitate in recommending this Hyatt property to friends and family. We look forward to our return the next time we're in Chicago.Show More

I have not stayed at a Hyatt in over a decade and was very surprised to find a note card near the bed that stated it was "Hyatt's practice to enter every occupied guest room at a minimum of once withi...I have not stayed at a Hyatt in over a decade and was very surprised to find a note card near the bed that stated it was "Hyatt's practice to enter every occupied guest room at a minimum of once within a 24-hour period, even if a guest has requested privacy". As a person who does not want any hotel staff, including housekeeping to enter my room during the entirety of my stay, this was very alarming. I can confirm on most days, staff does in fact enter the room, even when the do-not-disturb sign is hung on your door handle. I say this as I set up a camera that notifies me if there is any movement in the room. I feel this policy is a huge invasion of privacy and a huge overstep. I would not have stayed here had I known this was mandatory practice. It's made me feel unsafe. While I appreciate Hyatt's attempt to curtail any illegal activities in their hotels, this seems like a poorly chosen, blanket approach to dealing with issues that don't involve the vast majority of guests who just want to know their rooms won't be entered if they indicate they want privacy. I won't be staying at a Hyatt in the foreseeable future.Show More

The first time I stayed, I was told the wrong information about the $25 food credit and at first the manager argued with me that the employee would have never told me that, instead of working with me to fix it. I felt like I was being called a liar. This last time Charles at the front desk hooked us up. He’s the best and has really turned my idea around about this property. The lounge is one of the nicer lounges and breakfast is one of the best I’ve been to. They are also usually pretty good with globslist upgrades if they have a suite available.Show More
