During our initial stay, we booked a Classic Room with breakfast and were left with a very positive impression, largely thanks to the high service standards of the team. Because of that, I decided to return and book a Corner Room to celebrate my partner’s birthday, even requesting early check-in months in advance.
Unfortunately, when we arrived at around 1:45 pm, we were informed that the room was not yet ready. We waited patiently at the Club Lounge, but surprisingly, only managed to check in at around 3:30 pm — past the usual check-in time. Thankfully, Jaycee was very professional and offered a complimentary upgrade to a Junior Suite as a gesture of goodwill, which we truly appreciated.
Compared to many hotels in Singapore, the rooms here are slightly smaller, but tastefully designed — modern, clean, and efficiently laid out. We loved the cozy and relaxing atmosphere of the suite.
However, the experience took a disappointing turn during the evening cocktails (6 pm – 8 pm). Although the lounge was about three-quarters full, there appeared to be a noticeable difference in service between locals and tourists. The staff seemed inattentive to local guests — often looking away when we tried to request drink refills — while they regularly checked in with other (tourist) tables.
As the canapés were not self-service, all orders had to be placed through the staff, which made the process slow and inefficient. The food quality was hit-or-miss — some items were decent, others less so — but unfortunately, everything was served cold. Combined with the lacklustre service, it made for a rather poor lounge experience.
Overall, the inconsistency between the front desk’s excellent service and the lounge team’s subpar attentiveness was disappointing. The Club Lounge access simply did not justify the additional cost, especially given the apparent disparity in treatment between locals and tourists.
That said, we may still return in the future, as the rooms and front desk service were commendable. However, we would definitely not pay extra for Club Lounge access again unless significant improvements are made to the service standards.Show More
