I stayed at the hotel for seven nights starting on November 7. After a 14-hour long flight, my family and I arrived completely exhausted. We had booked through a Korean travel agency called Hyundai Pr...I stayed at the hotel for seven nights starting on November 7. After a 14-hour long flight, my family and I arrived completely exhausted. We had booked through a Korean travel agency called Hyundai Privia rather than directly with the hotel, but upon arrival we realized that the reservation was not made in the way we understood, which caused significant inconvenience. First, we had booked a 2-Queen Bed room, but when we arrived, the first night had not been reserved properly, so we had to stay in a 1-King Bed room. It was an uncomfortable situation. At that moment, a front desk staff member named NOUEA helped resolve the issue by offering us early check-in along with a complimentary birthday breakfast coupon, and kindly arranged a high-floor 2-Queen Bed room for the following day. Without NOUEA, our trip would have started off on the wrong foot. Second, although breakfast was included in our reservation, the front desk initially told us that it was a one-time $15 credit, or that it was a daily $15 voucher. I explained the price difference between having breakfast included and paying for it separately. The front desk acknowledged that Hyundai Privia had provided incorrect information, but still made a customer-friendly decision and allowed us to use the breakfast buffet on the 16th floor. Third, after moving to the new room, I found that there was no chair or table, so I had to go down to the lobby in the evenings to work. When I checked the website, I saw that other 2-Queen Bed rooms included a chair and table, so I informed the manager. The manager responded quickly and sent a chair and table to our room, and also waived the resort fee for three days as an apology for the inconvenience. Fourth, throughout these issues—the first-day problem, the breakfast confusion, and the room issue—I met with Manager Steve. He genuinely wanted everything to be resolved properly and, with kindness in honor of my birthday, gave us a $150 dining voucher. All of this clearly showed me that although the mistakes originated from the travel agency’s incorrect reservation, the staff and managers at Kimpton Theta New York – Times Square By IHG went above and beyond to fix and compensate for every issue. Because of their efforts, I felt I had to leave this review. Without their kindness, our week-long trip to New York would have been a disaster. I will always remember the kindness and thoughtfulness of Manager Steve and front desk staff member NOUEA at Kimpton Theta New York – Times Square By IHG. Thank you sincerely.Show More

I wanted to catch some Broadway shows and discovered that Kimpton was minutes away in walking distance from Broadway. This hotel puts you in the thick of everything (i.e. Broadway, Times Square, etc.). You do not need an Uber to get around if you're planning a Times Square/Broadway weekend only with this hotel. The hotel is very modern and clean. Comfortable beds and excellent views if your room is on a higher floor. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. This hotel is in an older building. I had issues with my heater not heating and I heard that other guests had issues with plumbing. But that is to be expected from an old building. However, the staff was so nice and accommodating that they switched me to another room so that I wouldn't have to deal with heat issues until someone was able to repair the problem. No fault of the hotel, but it is a noisy external atmosphere. The outside street traffic is loud and unavoidable. So, if you're a light sleeper, it may be challenging to go to sleep. But again, it is so close to everything important LOL. I wasn't impressed with the hotel breakfast. The food was cold. Next time around, I won't include breakfast in my stay. It might be better to go and get breakfast outside of the hotel. But I would definitely stay here again.Show More

It is fairly priced, with a warm helpful staff who seemed anxious to be of assistance. Our room was well appointed, had a great bed, a small sofa, a large window excellently darkened when need be, a largw TV and nicely appointed bath. (Not ot mention excellent water pressure which is not a given in NYC) Coffee was available from some ungodly hour until 10 AM or so. It is not offered via an in the room coffee maker but well worth the effort to get a superior product. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION: if not perfect very close. We walked to the theaters we were attending, found several diverse eateries within a block or two including The Playwrights Irish Pub for a pretzel and a brew. The Kimpton offers complimentary wine in their beautifully appointed lounge each night at 5, indeed a rare perk in NYC. (Fairly nice wine too!) Always a hand at the door for a cab or other transport, guidance, directions and a smile. This hotel is a wonderful bet when you visit NYC. It is safe, clean, affordable as NYC goes, and full of charm supplied by decor, appointments and good people! (8th Avenue is very busy; stay on as high a floor as you can get!)Show More
