As a Pla...This is my first trip to Bali and there are 30 Marriott properties to choose from. For your beach vacation you need to look no further than the Laguna, the Luxury Collection Marriott Brand. As a Platinum member I had an upgrade from the garden suite I had booked to a lagoon access room. And the extensive buffet breakfast was included complementary. I also was offered a loyalty raffle ticket and I drew a buffet dinner for two. Classy. This hotel has eight pools with ample lounges with umbrellas, gazebos, and other shaded areas. The rooms that overlook the swimmable lagoon pools which wind throughout the resort are basically waterfront. They are lit up at night and beautifully, relaxing to look at from your porch. The Lagoon access pools are first floor, and you can hop in the water from your balcony. The hotel was built in 1991 and the extensive gardens and landscaping are mature. Everything has been maintained, upgraded, and is immaculate. To my surprise, there were many included Resort activities. Yoga in front of the temple twice a week, and lots of introduction to Balinese culture with a floral temple, offering class, woodworking, bark & kite-making & Balinese music and traditional & fire dancing. The beach is beautiful with beach, chairs and umbrellas. I never had to reserve a chair or fight for one anywhere on this resort and it spreads out and always feels uncrowded. The Staff was amazing. I told a couple I met at the resort that I felt treated like a celebrity. And they nodded and said the same thing. Every staff member wants to get to know your name and know you and they can’t do enough for you. After Nusa Dua I booked the Westin in Ubud and the staff is similarly attentive there too. It must be Balinese hospitality! I’m sure I’ve missed someone’s name here, but my week was so near perfect because of these Laguna employees: Daria & Koko & Pande at reception. Arik Temple class recreation & yoga teacher. Awan yoga & batik. Sukariana woodworking. Suka (means like) the recreation manager. Agus at pool. Annga at the Pool. Miliani in the Laguna Spa. Subrata at Sapphire little bar. Gus Laguna Concierge. Purna…Concierge. AVE, Heri & Indra In the buffet restaurant. Dinner & Breakfast. And the wonderful Housekeeping Staff! Tip! It is on the beach, but the accommodation blocks are set among lush gardens, which are beautifully tended and filled with exotic plants, waterfalls, and water features. There are multiple swimmable saltwater lagoons and swimming pools. Some of the rooms on the ground floor allow direct access from your terrace to the lagoon. We very much liked the feeling of living among such wonderful tropical gardens. Our room was a spacious lagoon terrace room with access to water . Inside it was well appointed with useful quality features and was very nicely decorated. The aircon worked well, the WiFi was good, and the smart TV allowed me to cast to it with Netflix, Amazon etc. Very well setup. . The restaurant choices were good too. Kulkul Beach House (seafood/grill), Banyubiru Restaurant (pan-Asian buffet), Hamabe Japanese Restaurant, Arwana Restaurant fine dining, de Balé Lounge & Bar, Sapphire bar and Cornerstone Del, The airconditioned Banyubiru buffet restaurant was great for breakfast and provided a lot of choice for dinner. We liked de Balé for a coffee or late-night drink but found the Cornerstone Deli had a disappointing choice of food on offer. Arwana was more expensive, offers seafood and other dishes in an open location for dinner. A nice setting and service, but I thought the cuisine was only just about okay. Kulkul Beach House had good light snack meals and coffees. It has a splendid view to the ocean at lunchtime. We had a rental car and drove the short distance to the Bali Collection, possibly the best mall around. Lots of shops and restaurants over there in an open-air mall setting. You can also take the shuttle bus to go there from the hotel or walk it in about 15 minutes. Overall, I thought the Lugana to be an excellent high-quality hotel with beautiful gardens and water features. The staff all seemed happy in their work and were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I would certainly go to The Laguna again when visiting Bali.Show More

We booked our ‘relaxing break’ via Trail Finders UK, we’d...First off, we had an amazing experience, the staff were super attentive, the rooms were very clean & food was superb (if a little repetitive). We booked our ‘relaxing break’ via Trail Finders UK, we’d asked for a ADULTS ONLY resort and this most definitely IS NOT that. It’s not the hotels fault but it really should be made CLEAR especially being a spar resort, that children will be running around shouting, screaming etc and there’s no escape from them in any of the lagoons or pools, restaurants as we soon found out. We also booked a bed by the Kul Kul pool & restaurant, they all a had minimum spends on them to secure one of the beds. We assumed that the small pool in front of the beds were only for those who’d reserved a bed and doing so had committed to spending a lot of money there. Five minutes into our booking a group of 7 children ranging from 2 years old to around 15 years old jumped in the pool and started splashing everyone, beds, food and everything! Their parents didn’t seem to care as their phones had their attention. We called the staff over to deal with them and we were informed that the pools were for anyone in the hotel. There was also a large wedding party booked in on the Friday and this took a lot of the beach area up and upset a lot of the other guests as it takes a lot of the sun-bed areas, views and reasons people enjoy a beach resort plus the music from the party was far too loud, you couldn’t talk in the restaurant area and be heard very well. There were business conferences going on in the week next to reception too but these didn’t encroach on proceedings too much. I understand these resorts need extra income from conferences, weddings etc but this should be made clear in the resorts literature that you’ll be sharing facilities that way and certain areas will be out of bounds during these times!Show More

From the moment of our arrival to the day of departure our experience was nothing short of amazing. All the staff are so professional and friendly with nothing too much trouble and is what made our stay so special. The room was well appointed with everything you would need, always clean. Our room was located on the 4th floor with lagoon (pool) view and ocean view with small balcony with comfortable day bed/sofa. The hotel grounds are meticulously cleaned as are the pools daily. Just a word of caution, there are 7 pools, 1 of which fresh water the other 6 are salt pools which unless you have swim goggles (especially for children) will cause eye irritation. Great for cooling off and floating, not great for swimming. Breakfast buffet has everything you could want to start the day from western fried options, asian rice dishes, indian vegetarian, breads & pastries, fruit, cereals and cheeses. The complex has 3 main restaurants and a further 2 bars where light food can be ordered. All food is excellent quality and sufficient quantity. Special recommendation for the Sapphire bar and staff, Subrata, Rama, Risma and Daantje who made our stay so much fun whilst being professional. So many conversations, laughs and good times and great memories. The holiday was to celebrate our anniversary and the hotel went above and beyond in helping us to celebrate from welcoming little sweet treats, celebratory messages on our room TV to towel sculptures by the housekeeping staff. Would highly recommend the hotel for a relaxing, luxurious stay in Nusa Dua, you will not be disappointed. We'll definitely be back!Show More
