Woke in the morning to find the thick blind won't open, leaving the room really dark so did the following to try and get it fixed; 8am - Call Guest Services who say they'll get an engineer up. 8:30am - No one arrived so on my way out, I pop by reception to make sure it's being followed up. 2pm - Get back to room. Still not fixed. Explain to employee on 26th floor who says she'll chase it. 2:30pm - No ones arrives so I call guest services who say they'll chase it. 3pm - No one arrives so I go downstairs and explain to the manager who is apologetic, calls the engineer who says he visited but it's broken and there's no spare part. For a top class hotel, I'd expect at least one message (call, note left in room) to explain that I haven't been forgotten about. The manager (who I credit for getting to the bottom of things in just a couple of minutes) offered me a room swap but as I was checking out in the next 2-3 hours, I declined. To spend all the time in my room lit by 2 bedside lights and a desk lamp was a bit depressing but what frustrated me more was my perception that I was being ignored and that the staff seemed to conclude "it's bust - ah well, nothing we can do" and not even taking the time to explain to me and try and offer another solution. I hope it's just an unlucky one off but I've reported to my company so they can monitor for trends. Location fantastic though and otherwise, room is small but clean and well appointed.Show More

One issue is my room is normally paid for my company, so I expect the rooms I am given are not the best, and that’s probably why this review is not flourishing with great comments. In my experience the rooms are small, to very small, sometimes just enough room for a king size bed. On a positive note the beds are comfortable and cozy. The walls are thin, and noise can carry along the floors. One room I was given had continuous lift sounds and bangs from 6am to 11pm. The bathrooms are small, only enough room for a small sink,toilet and shower. The is no room for toiletries, you have to put them either on the floor or toilet seat. Breakfast is not spectacular, I would call it a business breakfast, but there are hot options and Continental options but it’s not a great spread. It’s “all you can eat” so it’s OK to fill up on for a day of sightseeing. Gym access is on the lower level, where you find Crunch Gym, guest s have free access to this, and this possibility one the big “plus” for this hotel. There is also a Starbucks accessible from the main lobby. In summary the hotel is alright for a weekend stay if you out and about all day, but it’s an Old Dame and it’s showing its age.Show More

We were a bit concerned before visiting due to a few recent very poor reviews about the standards at the hotel. However, our experience was excellent. First and foremost the location is perfect to access all NY attractions. The room was acceptable and cleaned to a high standard. The Destination Tax was a pain, but, you can get this back in the bar and you can also get up to $35 per day towards laundry for free. The gym was a particular highlight. It is a proper gym in the basement run by Crunch. Best hotel gym we've been in. The only negative was checkout, a complete shambles. There was confusion over what we had paid and what the actual bill was. Staff seemed out of their depth to work it out. We think that we have been over charged and just waiting on bank to confirm charges. If this had not been our dissapointing last experience with the hotel the score would have been 5.Show More

It’s right on point for location when traveling for work or when you take a little time off. When I had a meeting or the family wanted to just walk and take in the holiday sights, everything was right there. Christmas in the city is just magical, and so convenient to get to all the usual holiday spots this trip-We were minutes away from Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue Christmas windows—all which are back this year. And we had a great time at Papillon, which is nearby. The staff brought our experience to a whole other level & ensured our stay was one to remember. Such a warm professional greeting from Nicole made us feel so welcome the moment we set foot into the place. The friend who helped us with our bags, Jeffrey, was just as nice, and in every way possible helped make everything go off without a hitch.Show More
