I had looked at many hotel options in London (marriott and others) and...My family just left a perfect 5 nights in a 2 bedroom connecting Thames River View Suite with my family of 4 (including 2 kids). I had looked at many hotel options in London (marriott and others) and am very happy with the decision we made. This was my families first sightseeing trip to London to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday (and the belated 8th birthday for my other son). The location and the hotel exceeded all of our needs. The views from the Thames River Suite were awesome (looking directly at the Thames River, Big Ben, and London Eye. Rather than rolling the dice and hoping for an upgrade upon arrival (using Suite Night awards or my Lifetime Titanium Elite Status) I decided to reach out to the hotel in advance to pre-pay to secure the 2 bedroom room suite so we would have enough space. When we arrived, we had both king bedrooms and the hotel had converted the living room in to a 3rd bedroom so we had tons of space (and 3 bathrooms). Justin, Bashi, Mohamed, Qasid, and Museera, were all very responsive and helpful both before and during our trip. Justin is the one who emailed me pre-arrival to let me know how much he favored the a Thames River view suite (his favorite in the hotel) and convinced me not to change to a different room. The included breakfast in the hotel was awesome (full breakfast menu to choose from with many options for first course and main courses) and the lounge was good for tapas/small bites from 5:30-730 and beer and wine 5:30-9:30 (all included). The kids also used the large indoor pool most days and the gym was fully equipped with every piece of equipment, many cardio machines, and tons of free weights. The hotel went above and beyond to recognize my kids’ birthdays including several gifts (London souvenirs/stuffed animals, London themed slipper, and jerseys of ther favorite soccer/football player). It made the birthday celebration even more enjoyable and the kids were thrilled. It really was a special trip and the staff at the hotel went above and beyond in making it very memorable for my whole family.Show More

Firstly this a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location right next to the London eye and just over the river from Parliament. The decor is beautiful and gives real sense of high end luxury throughout. There was mix up with our booking as we had paid a third party in advance but the hotel wanted us to pay them on arrival. It was 9pm when we arrived and had to sit in the bar for 30 minutes whilst it was resolved The room was very spacious, the bed comfortable and nice touches with USB sockets and American sockets. I would however expect more in terms of little details in the room, we paid £715 for one night and there wasn't even a packet of biscuits to be able to have with my cup of tea. This is a very basic thing that you would get in any hotel in the UK. There was also no air con so slept very badly, our stay was in November so dread to think how hot it would be in summer. I was lulled into a false sense of security by an air con type device on the wall, but it had no temperatures on it, I turned it to it's lowest level and put the fan on high but no cold air came out, it was the middle of the night before I realised this so too late to contact reception to ask for a fan. Again this is a basic function in every mid level hotel chain I stay in and for my £715 expect a comfortable nights sleep. When I said the next morning that I had slept badly due to the temperature they did say 'sorry about that' but that was it. Breakfast was also an additional payment, we only had one included in the £715 so my partner ate and I sat with them. The breakfast did look amazing and there were a lot of options and it was a nice change for it to be off menu rather than a buffet. However we were in a rush so couldn't just grab something and run, there also didn't appear to be any gluten free options on the menu. The staff did however manage to turn an omelette round very quickly for my partner which we were very grateful for. The staff were friendly and polite and this really is a beautiful opulent hotel, also beautifully decorated for Christmas. I just feel that I expect a better sleep and at least a biscuit and breakfast for £715.Show More

Our stay at the Marriott County Hall was such an astonishing sequence of failures that by the end I was half-expecting a camera crew to jump out and tell us it was all an elaborate prank. It started at the front door. A staff member took my car key and our bags with total confidence. Naturally, I assumed he was going to park the car and send the luggage up. I thanked him, tipped him £20… and then watched him reappear at the reception desk — with a manager — to inform me I actually needed to park the car because they “aren’t allowed” to. So basically I paid £20 for the privilege of carrying my own bags and parking my own car. A bold new business model. Then came the room. Cold. Freezing. Siberia-with-a-view cold. We reported it immediately. “Maintenance will be right up,” they said. Two days passed. Not a soul. We called again. And again. Finally, on day three — after I walked back down to reception like a character asking to speak to the manager in a sitcom — they produced a tiny portable heater. If they’d brought it any later, I’d have needed it to thaw myself out before checkout. And then we made the mistake of eating at Gillray’s. We brought two friends. We ordered steaks. Two of us asked for peppercorn sauce. The food arrived cold… and with only one sauce. Instead of simply bringing the second one, the waiter decided this was the perfect moment to debate our memory of the order, as if the hill he wished to die on was a £3 pot of peppercorn sauce. By this point we were genuinely laughing …. mostly to avoid crying. Before leaving, I shared everything with the duty manager: the freezing room, the vanished maintenance, the Fawlty Towers valet experience, the restaurant argument, the cold food — the whole tragic opera. She promised to investigate and follow up. Shockingly, she didn’t. In summary: Gorgeous building. Stunning location. But the guest experience? A masterpiece in how not to run a hotel. If Marriott County Hall were aiming for a five-star parody of itself, then congratulations — mission accomplished.Show More

I’m a long-standing Titanium Elite member and always choose Marriott because of the loyalty benefits and service standards. Sadly, this hotel has completely undermined both. Before arriving, I called and emailed to explain that I’d be travelling with two disabled children and that a two-bedroom suite would make our stay manageable. On the morning of travel, I checked the Marriott app and saw that suites were available. Even on arrival, I showed reception that I could book one instantly through the app. The receptionist went to “check”, then suddenly the suites disappeared from the system. I was told none were available. When I explained how important the space was for my children, there was no empathy, only denial and excuses. To make things worse, I was then offered a suite upgrade for £2,100. I’ve stayed in Marriott hotels all over the world and have always been treated with respect, but the UK Marriott experience seems to be the exception. County Hall has been the worst yet. For a flagship property opposite the Houses of Parliament, this was a disgraceful welcome. If you’re an Elite member expecting loyalty benefits to be honoured, be very careful. In my experience, Marriott County Hall values upselling over loyalty.Show More
