I had read that the Plaza-facing side of the hotel had quieter rooms and I received one when I requested it. You could still hear the freight train from the room, but not enough that it ever woke me up or kept me frown falling asleep. The room was clean, though the furnishings, carpet, bedding and paint are in need of a refresh. But again, at the end of the day, it was completely clean and that’s really all I care about. The public-facing parts of the hotel are really beautiful. You can tell the care with which they honor the antiques and the artifacts on property. (Make sure to grab a map from the lobby to tour the hotel and see the unique items.) The only true downside was the lack of food. Even the gift shop closed up early, so I couldn’t even grab a chocolate bar without walking over to the Cal. If I were to return, I’d make better use of the fridge in the room and stock up on food at the 7-11 down the street at the beginning of my trip. As far as guest service, every employee I spoke with had a pleasant, positive attitude.Show More

The gentleman working the front desk, John, said there would not be anyone working the bell desk until later that morning so we could not leave our bags. However, since there were already rooms available, John offered us a better option by simply charging us a $25 early check-in fee and giving us our room from that point. What a terrific example of excellent customer service! John and the Main Street Station staff made our stay extra memorable.Show More

After traveling all day I checked in to my room and had to leave the hotel in search of food that I could bring back with me. The female front desk staff were pleasant, but the men were not very friendly. I requested a quiet room and the man who checked me in gave me a room on the 6th floor overlooking the hotel's air conditioning system and three sets of railroad tracks which were very noisy overnight. Also, they advertise having a pool, but you have to go to the hotel nextdoor to access it. All in all, not a great experience.Show More

They also said that if I wanted the room cleaned, I needed to call housekeeping in the morning. This was the first time I had to call to request room cleaning. The room itself had been remodeled, so it was very clean and comfortable. However, the air conditioner was quite noisy, so I think having earplugs would help when sleeping. The area surrounding the hotel seemed to have some safety concerns.Show More
