The location is a little out of the centre, but it is very easy to get into the centre of historic Rome by metro in around 10-15 mins from Cipro m...For the hotel itself,I would give a solid five stars. The location is a little out of the centre, but it is very easy to get into the centre of historic Rome by metro in around 10-15 mins from Cipro metro station which is a short walk from the hotel. The reception staff were all great, and we had a warm welcome, and help throughout our visit from everyone we spoke to. The rooms were pleasant, quiet and very clean as were the communal areas. As we were visiting around Halloween, the hotel had been ‘dressed up’ in a fun Halloween decor. There is an overall lovely ‘vibe’ to the hotel. My reason for the 4 stars is that my experience of breakfast however was general ‘chaos’, and sadly I would say a 1 star experience. It may well be the time of morning that I visited which was around an hour before closing. It was fully self service - but on each occasion, there was a lack of… cutlery… cups… plates… serviettes… (cleanliness, where tables were awaiting cleaning) and often food was lacking where it took a long time to replace empty trays . I spent the first morning wandering around trying to find cutlery and a plate, plus get some coffee. The chap behind the counter sent me away and said I had to ask waiting staff for coffee, even though I saw him repeatedly serving other customers directly. In the end I managed to ask one of the waiting staff for coffee, but after waiting ten minutes nothing had arrived and I gave up. There were 2 coffee machines, which I ended up resorting to ( although one was out of order), when I finally could locate a cup! The croissants, and pastries were excellent , but I would say the rest of the food was ‘average’ and the selection could have been much improved. Overall I did really like this hotel, and will return, but I will probably look elsewhere for breakfast.Show More

The staff we interacted with during our stay were friendly and helpful. We appreciated the modern stylish decor and the high levels of cleanliness throughout the hotel. Unfortunately the roof top bar was closed despite the very mild weather. This was disappointing as there was no prior notice on the website. However, as we were packing our cases on the final morning, one of our group realised that her Kindle was missing. It is important to stress at this point that the Kindle was never taken out of the room. We thoroughly searched the room to no avail. We needed to leave for the airport and left this with the Reception staff to investigate. Since our return home, the customer service has proved to be extremely poor. I have emailed the hotel regarding the situation, but have not received a reply. Another member of our group has received a reply but the underlying attitude has been very dismissive. I need to stress that only the hotel staff had access to our room. We asked what policies are in place to address such issues and requested information regarding the investigations that had taken place. Unfortunately, the lack of communication has been extremely disappointing, further diminishing our initial impression of your hotel. Previous to this unfortunate event we would have left positive reviews, but we really cannot do that now.Show More

I broke my l...I booked a week at Mama Shelter for my 35th birthday with my partner in May this year, I was so excited to go and had picked this hotel after a lot of research into the decor, food, vibe. I broke my leg a week before going, and actually called the day after my surgery to ask if I could have a refund, or a voucher for a future trip, or postpone... As I had booked via Lastminute.com, Mama Shelter said they couldn't help. I then spoke to Lastminute.com, who said that they couldn't refund me, but under special circumstances, the hotel would do so out of courtesy. I emailed, called, I even sent my dated X-rays as proof, and had no response. I couldn't believe this as while a week's holiday lost meant a lot to me financially, surely to a franchise like this, it is a drop in the ocean. I was so incredibly disappointed, but was distracted by having to recover, so I'm only now reviewing - 3 surgeries later, and over £1000 down. It's a shame when trendy hotels don't treat their customers well, and this made a traumatic experience all the more punishing!Show More
