We usually stay at the hotels closer to the strip and the beach, but when booking we looked at the Melia and liked the photos of the hotel. On arrival the reception area is very grand and nicely deco...We usually stay at the hotels closer to the strip and the beach, but when booking we looked at the Melia and liked the photos of the hotel. On arrival the reception area is very grand and nicely decorated, the same with the swimming pool area, you can see that a lot of money has been spent on these areas. It is a shame that this is not the case with the rooms, we booked a standard double room with pool view. On entering the room, the room looked very dated and smelt quite musty, the beds are not comfortable at all and both of us slept badly throughout our stay. The bathroom was absolutely shocking, the bath had been painted with what looked like gloss paint, this was peeling off, and you came out of the shower with bits of paint on you. The water pressure in the shower was good, but the hot water was near on non-existent. You had to plan to have a shower in the middle of the night to get any hot water at all. The rest of the bathroom was extremely dated and dirty, there was black mould in between the tiles and the tiles that had come off the wall had been stuck back on with edges sticking out, the bottom of the shower screen was extremely dirty, and more white mastic had been stuck over old dirty mastic. The cleaner came in the room and left the patio door wide open whilst we were out, with not regard to the safety of our items in the room, I always ensure the patio doors are fully locked and secure before leaving the room. The mini bar in the room is fully stocked when you arrive and is extremely expensive, there is no room left in the fridge to put your water, I asked at reception for this to be emptied and got told it would be 3.50 euros to do this, but it would be restocked by the cleaner and I would need to pay this each day!!!! In the end I removed the mini bar contents and put in on the tray, I then photographed this each day to prove I had not used anything as I had read bad reviews on people being charged for stuff they didn’t have. On a good note, the food was good in the hotel, but we stopped eating in the restaurant after the first 4 days due to both of us leaving the restaurant with Nat bites. There was a lot flying round in the restaurant area. When we checked out, luckily, we hadn’t been charged for any of the mini bar items, we paid the bill for the drinks that we had in the bar area. The reception staff are ok but not the friendliest I have encountered in Benidorm. The one on check out didn’t even ask how our stay had been. On reflection of our stay at the Melia, I would not book this hotel again, there are much nicer hotels more reasonably priced that I would go back to.Show More

They put us in a room that was directly above where the live music was playing every night. We asked for another room but there wasnt any available evven though we had asked before we even flew to Benidorm. Our room was dirty, the bathroom wasnt cleaned before we arrived. Broken tiles and mould around the bath. A thick grime line inside the bath. So I had to thoroughly clean our room before we could really use it! We were there 6 nights and our bed sheets were only changed once. We asked on several occasions for our room to be cleaned, but all they did was make our bed with dirty sheets. We also had cockroaches in our room! Again we asked to be moved, all they said was sorry we havent got any other rooms available, and when the cleaners came to "clean" the room they just made the bed! We experienced very rude staff, that couldnt crack a smile. In the indoor swimming pool you have to wear a swimming cap, my daughter is autistic. She wont wear anything on her head. The member of staff was rude and kept coming in to say we had to get out because my daughter wouldnt wear one. Even though we had explained enough times why she wouldnt. We went all inclusive. But when we asked for certain drinks and food, we were told no because certain food and drinks were NOT all inclusive even though I paid a stupid amount of money for all inclusive, which should mean all food and drink is all inclusive! But it isnt! We were treated very unfairly. The breakfast was okay, but we ate out every night because the dinner wasnt and lunch wasnt very nice and wasnt many options. So again I paid so much for all inclusive, yet could barely use it. Bar staff were rude and abrupt with us outside by the pool. Again told us we couldnt have certain drinks because they were not all inclusive! Even though they should have been! How this place is rated 4 star I have no idea. Because it is far from that. Its all for looks. Dont beleive this place is all inclusive because its not. Wont ever be coming back.Show More

On arrival the hotel appeared clean and well presented.At check in we were told rooms would not be ready until 4pm so had a wander as we had 4 hours to kill A few shops and bars situated close to the ...On arrival the hotel appeared clean and well presented.At check in we were told rooms would not be ready until 4pm so had a wander as we had 4 hours to kill A few shops and bars situated close to the hotel so handy Our rooms were actually ready when we went back My room was on floor 22 and lifts slow Room on the surface ok but on closer inspection bathroom in need of refurbishing rust on radiator,tiles tired in need of grout and round the edges of the floor and behind door built up grime Floor not cleaned once in a week Balcony in need of a coat of paint Beds so hard couldn’t sleep all week lots of people saying the same thing Positives were pool area spacious and no wait for a longer Pool area however was dirty and cans and bottles left even though a cleaner was seen pushing a cart round didn’t actually do any cleaning Large party of men hung around most of the day using foul language around families with small children and just allowed for it to keep happening Only went to the pool bar a couple of times and the service was curt no smiles available I got the impression none of the staff liked the English never been to a hotel before where the staff didn’t speak to you in the bars and restaurants The food was ok but pretty limited in choice and hard to get a table at breakfast Overall this hotel is not a 4 star if it was a 3 star I would say it was adequate Plenty of better hotels in Benidorm The Meliá need to up it’s game especially with the staff none of them wanted to acknowledge you and on checkout didn’t even ask if I enjoyed my stay Wouldn’t go backShow More

Before arrival I submitted a reques...Recently returned from a short break and gotta say that, after a disappointing stay last year (due to lack of view), this holiday totally exceeded our expectations. Before arrival I submitted a request for a room on a higher level (we'd booked skyline room) and then upon checking in we were delighted to discover we'd been accommodated on the top floor and upgraded to a grand premium room. Well, the balcony was huge (chairs converted to sun loungers there was plenty of space) and the view was like something out of a Hollywood movie (e.g. Sleepless in Seattle vibes). To be fair we spent most of the holiday out on the balcony enjoying the view and the vibes it was so peaceful. Our room was gorgeous, huge bed, sofa and Krupps coffee machine, supplies were aplenty. Our room was stunning but what always makes our stay special is the staff at Melia. Nothing is too much trouble, the setting is immaculately clean and inviting and we always receive a warm welcome. For the foreseeable future it is going to be the only hotel we will book when planning our holidays. Only problem is I want to book the exact same room - fingers crossed. Oh and Brucie Bonus, the Rincon area has the best entertainment, very family orientated, awesome tribute acts so you don't even need to venture along The Strip if you wanna stay close to the hotel. Everything is on your doorstep and oh did I mention they've just built a brand new Lidl right outside, it's huge it's like Disneyland!Show More
