The walls were wa...Pros The hotel is in a fabulous location. The staff and food at the outside street cafe was wonderful The roof top bar had a pretty view Cons The hallways need a complete update. The walls were water stained and smelled awful. It was overwhelming. The room was noisy. There was noise from other guests and some type of humming noise that made sleep difficult. The room needs basic maintenance attention, items needed to be stocked, one bed side light continually blinked and one was inoperable. Customer disappointment We arrived early and we were informed our room was unavailable. However, for a fee of $46 euros a night they had an upgraded room that was available. The weekend prior I had received a promotional email with discounted room upgrades for $20 euros. I responded to the email and received a response the upgrade was no longer unavailable. When I mentioned the email to the staff member and the pricing difference. I was told prices are cheaper prior to check in. Basically the upgrade is available now and if you want to check in now it is an additional $46 per a night. We were very tired from a very long flight from DC. We opted to pay the additional amount and check in. I did email management with my disappointment and I felt they were taking advantage of weary travelers. They responded the rate was justified. Since we agreed at check in it is what it is. We are loyalty members. This would have been a wonderful opportunity to offer a loyalty customer a complimentary upgrade. Overall the location was fabulous. The hotel condition was disappointing. I would definitely recommend staying in the area. There were many other nicer hotels in the area that are less expensive. I choose this hotel because of the 5 star rating. I should of paid attention to the reviews. Many of the positive reviews are of the roof top bar which is open to the public. Based on room quality and overall appearance, I would choose a different hotel.Show More

You have taxi cabs right in front of the hotel and the metro system is down the street. This made the transportation experience extremely easy. the restaurant and specially breakfast was superb. Awesome variety and great food. The only reason why the review is not a perfect 5 was a 4, was due to the rooms. We selected a high floor for a view of the city and it was awesome, HOWEVER the room had no drawers to put our clothes in. We picked the superior room. We basically had to live out of our suitcases, dirty clothes on the floor. For a five day stay this was very cumbersome. The memorable experience that stood the most, her name is DEBORA, if you are new to Barcelona ask for Debora, her hospitality was second to none, she made a personable unique experience to ensure we knew were to go in the city, places to see.
