The room was very cozy, fully furnished - which helped organize my stuff in it. There was room for luggage, clothes, things, and for me to roam around. Bed mattress is on the hard side - which I reall...The room was very cozy, fully furnished - which helped organize my stuff in it. There was room for luggage, clothes, things, and for me to roam around. Bed mattress is on the hard side - which I really appreciate. Full back support. Linen was clean and staff were very accommodating. Note that there is no actual kitchen and one will not be able to cook for themselves. The food places around the near area are not the cheapest - but there is a Tim in the area. The area is beautiful University of BC. If you stay there, please find a day to just visit the various public buildings, the architecture is stunning and worth the visit. There is a local bar with a good happy hour at the AMS student nest, if you don't want to go too far for a drink. Sunsets are gorgeous as well, and there is a beach just a walk and a long staircase away. The only thing I'd change would be maybe putting some paper towels in the kitchenette area, and having some kind of curfew so people don't keep talking on the phone when someone is trying to sleep. It was a private room, but you could hear everything from other rooms, fyi if you are someone who talks - be mindful. Otherwise it was perfect. The property is not technically a hostel in my opinion. It is a university dorm (UBC). It is a university dorm (UBC). The main difference that I felt with a hostel was that this was individual single bed rooms with share washrooms/kitchens. I didn't see much of travellers vibe hanging together, altbough there was places for it either in the main lobby or in individual buildings. However, having said this, the property was reasonably priced in the over-priced city of Vancouver. So, if you are on a budget and don't mind an hour commute to get to downtown, this is a nice place to try. Very close to the beach, and also within 15 minutes walk to several eateries.Show More

A comfy bed, good towels and a decent amount of space too. The showers are shared but split into women / men only by floors. Good hot water and water pressure. Kitchen was useful if you needed to heat something or make tea/coffee etc. The campus is stunning and close to Wreck Beach which is worth a trip for sunset. Incredibly good value for money. Very Spartan room with no conveniences which are shared but clean. Bring some breakfast food as the campus restaurants don't open until 8am. There are plenty of buses but you need an hour to get into the city. Early risers can use the 24 hour McDonald's on campus but an18 minute walk away.
