There were also some great aspects that impressed me a lot, so I’ll share my honest review below.
Housekeeping and Room
There were ongoing difficulties getting towels each day. When housekeeping came to service the room, they took the used towels and bath mats but didn’t replace them with clean ones. We also heard other guests mention the same issue, so it wasn’t just us.
We had to call reception each day to ask for towels and mats—sometimes several times—as they often never arrived. On two occasions, my mum, aunty, and I had to use pool towels for our showers because none were delivered, and we felt uncomfortable repeatedly calling the front desk. One night, my mum called reception to ask for towels, and the lady on the phone sighed, said “okay,” and hung up on her. I was shocked when I heard this—it’s really unacceptable not to provide towels, which is a basic service for a five-star resort. In my previous stays, this was never an issue, so I’m not sure what happened during this visit.
We upgraded to a one-bedroom suite for the final four nights, as it was better suited for three adult women. The room itself was great; however, the new mattresses mean the king bed can no longer be split into two singles. This isn’t ideal for groups of friends or siblings travelling together. It would be great if management could offer an option for two single beds in these rooms.
Food
We were quite disappointed with the food offerings. There is no à la carte option at Blu Bar and Grill anymore—only an $85 FJD buffet. This isn’t ideal for guests who don’t eat much, as was the case for us, and we didn’t see the value in paying that much for a small amount of food. Instead, we were told to order from room service.
When we did, we were advised it would take 45 minutes, but it ended up taking two hours. By the time our food arrived, it was cold. I’ll also add that the in-room dining prices are quite high—a beef burger for $61 FJD is excessive. As a result, we ended up eating outside the resort five out of seven nights, where food was better, cheaper, and didn’t require reservations.
We were also disappointed to see that Neptunes restaurant has been removed, as it used to offer affordable, casual food and snacks. It’s now replaced by Byblos, which is more expensive and feels too formal for a family resort.
Breakfast at Blu Bar and Grill was chaotic, especially during school holidays. The staff looked quite stressed trying to find tables for guests. I recommend management consider reopening Chantara for adults-only breakfast, as they used to. This would help ease congestion and provide a calmer dining option.
On a positive note, our dinner at Chantara (the Thai restaurant) on Wednesday night was beautiful. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and although slightly expensive, it was worth it. We’ve eaten here on previous visits, and it’s always been a highlight.
Resort Facilities and Staff
Overall, the rest of the resort was great. We mainly used the adults-only pool, which was relaxing yet still close enough to enjoy the atmosphere of the main pool.
As always, the staff were absolutely lovely, warm, and welcoming. A big shoutout to Ana, our waitress by the pool—she was so attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to enjoy her job. She’s a real asset to the resort. I’d also like to acknowledge the porters at reception—Manasa, Inia, Val, and a few others whose names I can’t recall. They were always smiling, helpful, and created such a wonderful first impression for guests.
Safety and First Aid
One serious concern I’d like to raise is that management should ensure there are first aid–trained staff on the property at all times. My mum had a fall during our stay, and unfortunately, there was no one available who could provide first aid assistance. This was distressing and concerning, especially at a large resort. Having trained staff on-site would make guests feel much safer and more cared for.
I really hope management takes these issues into consideration and makes some improvements to enhance the guest experience. Despite some disappointing aspects, we still had enjoyable moments, and I truly believe this resort has the potential to return to the high standard it was known for in the past.Show More
