To start with the power in my room all of a sudden stopped working, had to move rooms with flashlights in the d...This hotel should never call itself a five star hotel. The service is mediocre at best. To start with the power in my room all of a sudden stopped working, had to move rooms with flashlights in the dark as no one was able to fix it. When we called for help packing they took so long in coming up my daughter had already taken out all the luggage to the hallway as we didn’t want to sit in a dark room much longer. Every time one called down to order room service or anything really we had to spell everything out over and over because employees just don’t speak good enough English to understand what one is asking for. We ordered an SUV and specified we wanted a suburban or Escalade as we were four people and a mobility scooter to take us to Niagara and the concierge promised it would be an excellent vehicle. When the vehicle arrived it was a horrible Toyota with only one row in the back far from being an SUV with two rows much less a suburban or Escalade which are luxury vehicles. They promised they would send another car and the other car was such a pig sty no one in their right mind would want to sit there, not even uber x cars are as dirty as the other two cars they offered. The drivers were unhygienic with their disaster in the car, and full appeared as they had not showered in days based on the amount of dry skin on their suit jacket. The door handle was also stuck on with tape. Absolutely horrific. Disgusting. After staying in over 30 four seasons world wide, dorchesters, Aman, St Regis etc and knowing what a five star service is shangri la should be embarrassed for what they offer. The only reason we stayed there was because they offered a balcony, but Trust me, first and last. They should be ashamed. Show More

Unfortunately our full stay could not be accommodated due to the World Series taking place but the remainder of our stay were superb. The hotel lobby is a standout feature, with live music and entertainment throughout the day and evening that creates a warm welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast choice was excellent, with a wide variety of options, and the lobby menu offered great choices for light bites and drinks. The vibe throughout the hotel is stylish and calm. Unfortunately I never got to use the pool area but from a brief tour it looked a fabulous spot to unwind especially after a day of sightseeing. The gym is surprisingly spacious and well equipped. Location of the hotel was super convenient, it was just a short walk from both St. Andrew and Osgoode subway stations, making it easy to explore Toronto or get around. There are also numerous eating places only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Really enjoyed the hotel close location to the Eaton Centre and all the stores they had to offer. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxurious laidback stay in the heart of the city. All hotel staff who we met during our stay were all so polite and friendly and really added our stay. They really do go above and beyond and looking forward to a return visit to the Shangri-La Toronto.Show More

Pros: • The pool was relaxing and well-maintained, one of the few highlights. • The location is convenient, within walking distance of key downtown attractions and restaurants. Cons: • The food was mediocre, and the dish I ordered was missing a main ingredient clearly listed on the menu. • The room had zero personality — clean, but bland and forgettable. • Room service was fine, but nothing memorable or worth repeating. • The lobby was constantly busy and noisy, which made it hard to enjoy the atmosphere. • Prices were high for what was delivered — not aligned with true luxury standards. • It also seemed that turn-down service entered the room even with the privacy light on, which was unsettling. Overall: For a brand known for elegance and service, Shangri-La Toronto felt underwhelming. While the pool and location were positives, the uninspired room design, average food, and lapses in guest privacy left me disappointed. We had tickets to a Blue Jays game, and when we arrived at the hotel, we were blown away by the thoughtfulness and attention to detail. Waiting in our room was a birthday cake for our daughter, along with a Blue Jays hat embroidered with her name — such a personal and unforgettable touch! Then, as we were getting ready to head to the game, room service surprised us with a tray of chocolates and sweets, all in shades of blue. We hadn’t ordered them — it was simply the hotel going above and beyond to make her birthday special. The level of care, creativity, and genuine hospitality we experienced made this trip truly memorable.
