We booked a 7 night package deal in a Lagoon room. On arrival the room appeared ok until we settled in. We noticed a cracked marble coffee table, on top of the table an old dirty tourist information b...We booked a 7 night package deal in a Lagoon room. On arrival the room appeared ok until we settled in. We noticed a cracked marble coffee table, on top of the table an old dirty tourist information book looked like it had been thrown in the bin, retrieved and re-used. The white door shutters in front of the mini bar were covered, coated in thick black dust. My bed had stained marks on the sheets. The bathroom had no air dimister to help with the shower steam. The floors were dirty and dusty. The mini bar fridge had a broken frame where the drinks were meant to be stored. There was rust on the bottom of the fridge. We addressed these concerns with the front desk showing them photos. We asked to be moved to another Lagoon room. They said they couldn't move us as booked out in that room category, but could accommodate us in a Garden room which was a downgrade. We declined this. Even if we accepted the Garden room they weren't prepared to refund the difference. We frustratingly stayed in the room and they offered us a $50 room credit, and another free day use of a Cabana which normally costs $170. ONLY AFTER I INSISTED ON BEING OFFERED SOMETHING TO COMPENSATE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. !!! UNBELIEVABLE !!! The front desk staff were not overly welcoming or informed about recommending to us features in the resort itself. We found out for ourselves. The pool bar was a JOKE! You order from a QR code reader with a 30 minute wait. Ours took over an hour and a half to arrive. I checked our order at front pool bar to find very short staffing. They apologised and didn't charge us for the delay. They used to have a delivery buggy service delivering the drinks and food orders! Clearly not happening and need more staff. The railings at the Cabana allowing you access into the pool become over heated, made of metal. Burning hot on the metal steps. Breakfast was an experience. Although enjoyed the food it was disappointing it wasn't replenished quick enough as certain food trays ran low or ran out. The selection of food was average. Not of a 5 STAR standard. We required a wheelchair as my mother had trouble walking long distances around the resort. They only had one on hand. It was ancient,old and in need of repair. After using it once it fell apart. This is isn't the GRAND SHERATON MIRAGE we remember! Clearly many cut backs everywhere. Pretty sure CHRISTOPHER SKASE wouldn't be impressed how this fine resort has gone DOWN HILL BIG TIME. Needs a major renovation on rooms, the pool bar seating which I sat on and the marble seat came off. The hotel foyer looks like a K-Mart store. Cheap and nasty looking. Compared to the opulent, high class foyer of past years before the cheap renovation. The resort store has gone, the fine jewellery store Hardy Brothers also gone. There's no way this resort is a 5 Star resort. More like a 3 Star. Being a Marriott member made no difference. Who in their right mind offers a downgrade to a lower priced room. They could've upgraded us for all the inconvenience of the room. I wasn't able to claim any recognition points for our stay because I booked through a third party operator. Not good enough. Only positive thing we noticed was the staff trying their best to work in these difficult surroundings and unsatisfactory conditions. WE WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN.Show More

My son and I located a cane toad in the pool however we were advised by pool bar staff this is very common around here. No words of advice ie thank you, or do not touch the cane toad. A spawn of baby cane toads we walked over on the pathway back to our room (eek). The cane toads are not mentioned in the pool rules so it’s very is v you. There is still plenty of bad attitude by overseas workers from Europe in this hotel as I’ve seen across the Gold Coast. And other hotels accross QLD as they over work themselves to get brownie points but stick together in groups bullying guests. For example one overseas manager approached my son directly from the side of the pool (my son is eleven years old) ! He was telling my son to stop playing with the pool noodle (the hotel provides). Even through I was right there he thought he’d be parenting my own child on what he thought was a respectful basis. And because two male self entitled guests having a cosey quaint lunch in a restaurant by the pool decided to complain and should have been advised the hotel is family friendly! Bar staff also refused to serve my son and I lunch on the pool side of the pool bar - one overseas waiter was continually ducking underneath the bar side of the pool - to avoid our requests for food for lunch so we left the hotel and ate elsewhere where. When I first checked in I had my NSW ID removed from my hands as it was placed behind the counter (which I had to politely say, “NO not ok). I was also reminded to book before dining there which I replied “NO” if you can’t accomodate guests I wont be eating here this is very rude. Often air conditioners are causing condensation which you can see all about the hotel looking up at rooms. My air conditioner was noisy and the stat can’t be changed so luckily I ordered two blankets. Two of the pools across from my location showed copious amounts of black dirt in them which my son refused to swim in and guests staying at the ugly and grotesque tent at the north side of the building create mess and use all the paying guests car parks (which there are not many). There is a public car park close to the gym (the gym is very nice) where overnight vans stay in their camps and. My Mercedes was broken into and the switch on the drivers side now needs repair. The breakfast buffet is terrible especially the fresh orange juice maker that clunks and whines about tossing old oranges around spatting out a bit of juice. My omelette was undercooked and people feel like they are at an auction. The carpet is dirty and the tables are just keeping up with being cleared but I’m being generous in saying this. The lines are also very long to wait for a table and you will need to stare at plates not cleared of food and your coffee will be cold.Show More

The staff were excellent - friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive throughout our stay. A special mention must go to Germán, who is an absolute credit to the team. He acknowledged our special occasion right away and went above and beyond to make it memorable, arranging a complimentary cabana by the pool along with a lovely refreshment and bubbles waiting in our room. Such a thoughtful touch! The resort itself is stunning - beautifully maintained grounds, relaxing pools, and a wonderful atmosphere that makes it perfect for a special getaway. We left feeling completely relaxed and very well cared for. Thank you to the entire team for making our anniversary so special - we can’t wait to return!Show More

Almu helped us arranged for room change swifty as I gotten a bathtub shower instead of a walk-in shower, which is inconvenient and much risky as we have an elderly and a kid. Rachel and her supervisor helped to arranged for mattress change as they were all without support anymore. Their actions were quick and fuss free for me. One's stay would not be good if not for them.Show More
