And we are so grateful because it was o...I can't recommend Swisshotel enough. After reviewing lots of choices and reviews, we booked because our friend had just stayed here and had great things to say. And we are so grateful because it was one of the most frictionless stays we have had in a long time. As a reference point, in the past year we've stayed in many hotels, including Dublin, London, Boston, New York City, Portland ME, and Cape May. When we booked, we joined the free loyalty program as the rate was lower if we did so. And before we even left Connecticut, where we live, I got a personalized email from Melissa, the Executive Operations Administrator & Loyalty Program Manager, welcoming us and offering assistance. I wrote her back and explained that we had lived in Chicago for a long time but had moved away and that we were bringing our kids back to see the Bears play. And when we arrived, she had arranged for a complimentary upgraded floor and view (of the Ferris wheel on Navy Pier--2603 is a great room!) and had also sent up beers, Garret's popcorn, and milk and cookies for the kids. I can't tell you how special that was for our family. We were only in Chicago for three nights so every moment really counted and that was one of them. We had a drink at The Palm one night and we also had breakfast there one morning and really enjoyed both. The breakfast was so perfectly cooked and assembled: the berries on the Belgian waffles and yogurt parfait were perfectly sweet, the avocado toast wasn't bitter and the egg was cooked perfectly. The chef obviously is very skilled and has great relationships with his/her vendors. And the breakfast was especially lovely because our server, Alex, was knowledgeable, pleasant, and efficient. Her service was impeccable. It made for a great last moment of our all too short trip. As a general note, we checked in--after a late flight--in under two minutes. There is coffee in the room as well as in the lobby. The water pressure was great, the beds were so comfortable, and the room temperature was easily managed. When we arrived back from our day out, the room was clean and the towels were replaced. It was just such an efficiently run hotel that you didn't ever have to think about anything besides your own plans. The atmosphere of the hotel is welcoming and modern--busy enough that it feels relevant but relaxed enough that it felt calm. Noise wasn't an issue. The elevators are fast. And, also, the location is terrific. As a former Chicagoan, I had thought about staying on Michigan or just off of it. But this allowed us to wander through Millennium Park, walk back from the Bears game, walk to great dinners and breakfasts easily. And even walk along the river early in the morning to the lake. Gorgeous views of Navy Pier, the Chicago River, and Lake Michigan right from our room (603). Every staff member was very friendly and helpful, from the valets to the housekeeping staff, and especially EMIINA at the front desk, who helped us with our room and gave us advice on where to eat. Fantastic room -- huge bathroom, super comfortable beds, very quiet sleeping. Great location for walking to all the highlights – River Walk, the Bean, Navy Pier, Mag Mile, the Loop, and so on. Also easy walking for quick food: Subway sandwich shop, Dunkin Donuts in next building (can get there from the lower level of hotel, don’t even have to go outside), and Whole Foods market, for example. If I recall correctly, some older reviews complained about the elevators, the refrigerators, and the “upselling.” None of that was an issue whatsoever. Elevators were super-fast and dedicated to certain floors. The refrigerator was a normal mini-fridge that we could put your stuff in, not stocked with costly items. And there was no pushy upselling of this or that. There’s a $25 charge per day for the "amentities" (or maybe it's called the “urban experience”) that you can’t avoid. But $15 of it can be used each day to buy your grab & go breakfast at the lobby lounge/bar, which was yummy – we got hot breakfast sandwiches and cold yogurt parfaits. Or if we went out for breakfast, then we used our $15 at night for scrumptious dessert (cheesecake!). And it was all VERY easy to do – Grab & Go took 5 minutes, and for our dessert we ordered from the very helpful staff, sat in the lovely, comfortable lobby lounge waiting while they got it from the restaurant, and then took it up to our room. Also, for each day you skip housekeeping you get a $10 credit on your bill.Show More

I had an overnight respite here that exceeded my expectations to achieve rest thanks to Joseph, Kia, and Claudio. I arrived WAY before check-in (around 9am) with a lot of bags for one person. I was kindly offered an option to upgrade to an immediately available room but opted to check my bags and wait for the regular check-in time, instead. Despite choosing to keep my original reservation, I did not want for comfort and access to my things. Joseph at the Baggage Desk must have retrieved or stored my belongings a half a dozen times with the same hospitality each time. He was reassuring that he was happy to help and took care and patience with me the whole day. Kia was also able to make my visit easier than expected by working with me to extend my reservation so that I could sleep in and leisurely order some Eggs Benedict in the morning. Because of Kia, I was able to sleep in to my hearts desire for the first time in weeks. As a chronic migraine sufferer this is truly the gift that will keep giving to me, even after I check-out. Finally, Claudio really sealed the deal for the staff being above-and-beyond. His consideration actually made my morning. He was so mindful and professional with how he delivered my breakfast to me in my morning pre-coffee fog. While he was dropping things off and I was signing the check he talked to me about my stay and day and genuinely engaged in conversation with me that boosted my morning and lifted my spirits. If you're looking for a quick refresh this is an excellent choice. The facilities are obviously top-of-the-line, but the staff is what pushed my stay from rest to rejuvenation. I’ve stayed at numerous downtown hotels over the years; however, this was my first time staying at the Swissôtel. It will definitely be my go-to for future visits. We recently enjoyed a short family vacation, and we were all blown away by the outstanding customer service, perfect location, breathtaking views from our rooms, and the incredible dining experiences crafted by Dan McGee and his team at The Palm restaurant. Every interaction we had was warm and personable. The wonderful Bellman was a true lifesaver, kindly showing us how to use the elevator to access the different levels on Wacker Drive instead of navigating all those steps. The Bartender in the lounge even made my favorite cocktail—though it wasn’t on the menu—and it was absolutely perfect! We also appreciated the thoughtful personal touches from our Room Attendants, which didn’t go unnoticed. I’ve never experienced dinner service as exceptional as what we had at The Palm hotel restaurant; we’re still talking about the unbelievable quality of food we enjoyed. To top it all off, the panoramic views of Lake Michigan, Navy Pier, and the city skyline from our beautiful hotel room were simply unbeatable.
