The good: Front desk and room service staff are friendly. That's who we interacted with the most. The room service breakfast (one option for free Globalist breakfast) is very good and on 2 of the days we ordered it came within 20 minutes. The 3rd day it was 45 minutes. I think I received a slight Globalist upgrade at check in, maybe from King to Park View King? not quite sure. we were on floor 20 so only saw a sliver of the park due to the buildings in the way. I think a few floors up we would have been set with the view. Unfortunately the room had two noise issues; every 3rd or 4th flush the toilet had a screaming high pitched whine. It was very loud, especially if your partner used the bathroom at night. And the room doors block essentially no noise at all from the hallway. We had an early rising young family next door who let their kids engage in endless 6am hallway conversations. We ultimately had to change rooms twice the next morning due some miscommunication about the room we were getting, and lost a couple hours of our morning of sightseeing. I was there when the hotel was very full, so I understand an upgrade isn't easy or even possible, but communication around changing a room and what we were getting was choppy. Our room for the final 2 nights was fine. Quiet, and on the park side but definitely no view due to buildings. Rooms are fine by NYC standards, nothing special. Note that the room door sill had almost no noise insulation from the hallway, we just happened to be at the end of a quiet hallway. For a property that was updated less than a decade ago, I can imagine the the sealing/noiseproofing on the room doors is not better? The location is quite nice for subway access and the park and uptown. If you have a lot of meetings or sightseeing downtown though, it's a haul from this location. I was disappointed with the hotel "bar". There actually is not a bar to sit at. A bar area with a counter and they want you to only sit at tables and get table service. When my wife went to sleep and I wanted a nightcap I was hoping for a classic hotel lobby bar seat for one cocktail and some people watching. The setup here was a disappointment IMO.Show More
