What can we say? For more than 20 years we have been staying at Hotel Ala. We feel like family. So many things have remained consistent about this place over the years, and that is a joy. Friendly own...What can we say? For more than 20 years we have been staying at Hotel Ala. We feel like family. So many things have remained consistent about this place over the years, and that is a joy. Friendly owners and staff - from Andrea and Sylvia and Stefano and Moreno and Mario and Alessandro, and everyone - sorry I can't name you all! As has been written on here many times - the location is perfect - vaporetto just down the alley. A dock off the lobby for a water taxi, a traghetto just across the campo. A few minute walk to San Marco or up and around La Fenice to the Rialto, or in the other direction through Santo Stefano and on to the Accademia bridge. The breakfast staff works really hard to put out a huge spread every day and to make sure everyone has what they want. The staff working the rooms are all pleasant and helpful. And of course, there is the ever popular bar with Rey at the helm, along with Bubu! It is a great place for locals as well as visitors to hang out and relax and have a drink or two. It’s just a short walk (under three minutes) from the Alilaguna water bus stop, so you won’t need to drag your luggage over bridges. Major attractions like St. Mark’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Square, and the Rialto Bridge are all nearby. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We arrived by water taxi and didn’t have to handle our luggage, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip through Italy and Spain—lots of variety and everything was fresh and delicious. The coffee was excellent, which is always important for coffee lovers! We highly recommend UnaHotel Ala Venezia for its convenience, comfort, and warm hospitality.Show More

We booked a 4 night stay here after reading reviews about Ala on TA and must say we were extremely happy with the hotel, the staff, the location and amenities. Very easy to get to from Venice Sam Marc...We booked a 4 night stay here after reading reviews about Ala on TA and must say we were extremely happy with the hotel, the staff, the location and amenities. Very easy to get to from Venice Sam Marco airport - got the Orange line ALILAGUNA direct from the airport to Santa Maria del Giglio stop, 50-100 metres from the stop, straight down the alleyway which leads directly infront of the hotel. We arrived 2 and half hours early for check-in and went to the reception to ask if we could leave our luggage there until check-in but were told our room was ready and accompanied us directly to it,even taking our cases. The room we were in was a tiny bit on the tight side but it didn't bother us at all. It was a beautifully decorated room which looked onto the adjacent canal used by the gondaliers. I had read TA that there was a mosquito problem, I cannot say there was. The chambermaids close the wooden shutters when they clean your room and also cool the room for you whist out. The mattress and pillows are the most comfortable we have ever slept on, I wish I had the same at home. I had the best sleep ever ever. Breakfast is served between 7-11 and is very abundant; cereals, four types of croissants, cakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, yogurt, bread, rolls, fresh fruit, cut fruit, sliced ham, salami, cheeses, coffees, teas, orange juice and another juice, everything you needed to fill you up and keep you going well into the afternoon, if not the evening. The reception lobby was great with complimentary cold water machine and a cold lemon, ginger and honey mix. Exemplary! The staff were faultless, nothing was too much for them, all extremely polite and friendly. On checkout day (11:00) we were allowed to keep our room for as long as we needed it, at NO extra cost (I have always been charged for late checkout wherever I've been) because our flight wasn't until 23:00, we left at 18:00. Very short walk to the Alilaguna stop and back to the airport. I must honestly say that Unahotel Ala Venezia is probably the friendliest and most accommodating hotel I've stayed in. I WOULD DEFINITELY HIGHLY RECOMMED THIS HOTEL IN A HEARTBEAT AND WILL ONLY STAY HERE IF I RETURNED TO VENICE. TWO VERY VERY HAPPY CUSTOMERS. THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF.Show More

The staff are very friendly, very polite, very professional and no ask is too much for them. We arrived two and a half hours earlier than check-in time, o asked if we could leave our luggage in the luggage room whilst we killed time waiting for the check-in time, only to be told that our room was ready and we're accompanied to it. Check-out day, the same thing, we had a very late flight out and when I asked if it was possible to have the room til we had to catch to water bus, I was told, we could have it for as long as required free of charge. What hotel does this for you? None in my experience. The breakfast was very abundant with everything from tea, coffee, cappuccino, fruit juices, croissants, a variety of different cakes, bread, rolls, yogurt, various cereals and seeds, scrambled eggs, beautifully crisp bacon, fresh whole fruit and cut fruit pieces, various soft cheeses, salami, ham mozzarella and tomato. You would be a very fussy eater of you couldn't find anything here for breakfast. Our room was a little on the tight side but the bed and pillows more than made up for it. I have never slept on mattress or pillow as comfortable. I only wish o had the same at home. It is very close to the vaporetto stop, approximately 50 metres, and central to everywhere.
