Unfortunately, the room we were first assigned had only a larger footprint—no accessible bathroom. The tub had high walls and zero grab bars, making it impossible for my husband to use safely after his ankle surgery. After a call to the front desk, staff moved us to a truly accessible room with a low wall shower and roll in bath area. They were apologetic and started working on a room move right away and the room they finally put us in was very comfortable and easily navigable with a mobility scooter. On the plus side, the famous Westin Heavenly Beds lived up to the hype—super comfortable and the room was blissfully quiet despite being right on Union Square. The staff were a highlight: doormen, café baristas, and concierge were all genuinely friendly and eager to help. One quirky amenity: a “freestyle” water station in the lobby dispenses still, sparkling, hot, and flavored waters. Bring a refillable bottle—it’s a nice eco-touch. The catch? Every flavor (lemon, cucumber, etc.) was empty throughout our three-day stay, so we stuck with plain. Overall, a strong Marriott experience with excellent staff and sleep quality. Just double-check the bathroom details if you need full accessibility. We’d return, but we’d confirm the room type upfront.Show More

Such a beautiful, iconic property. We were treated like royalty from the moment we walked in. We arrived early in the morning after a red eye from Hawaii. Elaine greeted us at check in and was completely amazing. She knew right away we needed some extra assistance after the overnight flight. She was able to offer us one of the best upgrades I've ever experienced. Not only were we able to check in immediately, it was probably the nicest room in all of San Francisco. All of the staff at the hotel were amazing. The ride in the "E" car elevator was so iconic. The way the Christmas tree in Union Square lined up between the buildings. Now to the food! BourbonSteak was amazing. Not only are we in the best hotel but they now have the best restaurant. The staff was just as amazing as the food. The attentiveness we received was phenomenal. From the manager Giuseppe, to the wait staff David and Emilia. Now to the cocktails. The Eighth Rule is a must visit. Atmosphere and cocktail were truly the best. I cannot rave enough about the experience we had. I feel so lucky to have had so many amazing experiences and all in one location. Thanks for everything and keep up the amazing work. Right by Union Square--in fact, our room overlooked it--the Westin St. Francis is convenient and quite lovely besides. Every staff encounter was friendly, and our room was delightful. (We were in the tower, so I can't speak to rooms on the other side.) Besides the great view, there was a huge closet, a nice little fridge, a capsule coffee brewer, and a pretty massive bathroom. Wish the water pressure had been a bit better, but overall, very nice. There were chairs and table by the windows for us to sit and enjoy the skyline. The main lobby was bustling but the floors gleamed despite the traffic. Finding the right elevator banks was a bit of a hunt, but I'm sure if we'd stopped to ask, we would have had friendly service. (We did get wonderful service at the marketplace, when looking for the ATM, and at bell services.) The marketplace is a bit expensive--$17 for a can of soda and a bottled Starbucks drink--but that's actually not too surprising for (a) San Francisco, and (b) hotel prices. I would absolutely stay again at this hotel.Show More

The staff are mostly great. What was disappointing as a cleanliness of my room. The bedding, and the shower curtain had rust stains throughout. There was balled up toilet paper on the floor in my bathroom when I just checked in. There was also a dirty counter next to the sink area. I discovered much later the next day, that there was blood on the side of the toilet that was not mine. I blame management for rushing cleaning staff. If cleaning staff are not allowed so much time poor Room, things like this happen. I believe that Westin management for the specific hotel, needs to allow staff the appropriate time to clean. Or people who patronize here, need to lower their expectations. This hotel and the cleanliness feel like a $50-$75 per night Room versus Whote you come to expect from the Westin.Show More
