Firstly I did book the one of cheapest room at this hotel so I didn’t hold out too much hope for top quality best room with amazing views and so on but saying that I would have expected a higher standard than what I received, including a shower you I could actually shower in.
When I arrived at the hotel I was told that they had oversold the bed size I had booked for and offered me twin beds instead, I could change rooms the next day. I wasn’t happy I was at this hotel for several days for business and moving would be complicated. After some looking at the computer they did find me a room with the bed size I had booked. Not a good start to my visit. The staff member gave me no details about the hotel, services. Didn’t explain you need to use your hotel room key to get access inside the lift either.
The room itself - not a bad size for the bedroom itself, view looked out onto offices opposite which was ok. The bed isn’t soft but was fine for me, the pillows better than many hotels I have stayed in. Lighting in the room was great with a selection of lights. However at night you do get light from the hallway coming into the room due to the gap under the door leading to the room is not being entirely dark.
The bathroom was the biggest issue, whoever designed this had NO idea. There was a step up, that’s ok, BUT when you open the door it bangs straight into the toilet. You have to walk into the bathroom and close the door to be able to sit on the toilet. I did feel sorry for the rooms either side of me who might have heard that bang every time I went into the bathroom.
Then the shower. I know the hotel management has never had a shower in this room and I strangely suggest they do as it solution to its issue would be resolved. The shower door opens into the shower, and here is the issue there is no space for you to get in and then close the door, you would have to be super thin to do this and even if you are you would have the shower taps or hand rail sticking into you. A average size person would have issues. Needless to say I did not attempt to do this as I had visions of getting caught naked with no way out being stranded there until housekeeping came into the room to discover me. I opted to shower with the door open. The drain doesn’t cope with the shower fully on and therefore floods most of the bathroom. I have travelled extensively throughout Europe with many small hotel rooms and have never experience a bathroom with so many fails like this one. For a recently renovated hotel they really should be assumed.
Room service - I had this on my first night at the hotel, food was good and if you want to eat in it is fine.
The staff, on my second day I went down to the street entrance lobby and asked for to have taxi called. The staff member pointed me to the taxi rank just to the front left hand side of the hotel and told me to go there and wait. I waited and waited. No taxi, ended up being late for my meeting took as it took around 30 minutes to hail a taxi.
Upon check out I did mention my issues with the room. The front desk employee looked like they are fully aware of the issues and have had other customers complain (I have read a few reviews) . If they know there are issues then maybe deal with them, fix up the room. I was
comped my room service meal, had I not had that charge would I have been refund anythjng for the appalling bathroom issue?
The hotel itself location is great, you can walk to the MRT via underground passage, if you turn to your right as you exit the hotel and walk next door, go down 2 escalators the turn right and you get to the walkway, very easy and I even walked with my luggage to the MRT.
Would I return to this hotel? Most likely no, I was here on business and was deciding if we would use this hotel chain in the future as we have ongoing business in Singapore. I can say we won’t be changing. A hotel is only as good as its worst room and the level and standard of this hotel was just not up to what I would have expected.Show More
