Very good
5 ReviewsReviewers generally appreciate the historical presence of the old observatory, noting its significance as the first in Hokkaido. The main point of disappointment is that the building is closed to the public.
Fun facts
The observatory was in active use until January 2005, when its functions were integrated into the Asahikawa City Science Center "Saipal."
Observations of sunspots and prominences, which were a focus here, are still carried out at the observatory within the Asahikawa City Science Center Saipal.
