We arrived about 2 pm and they were very accommodating in allowing us to check in early, which was unexpected and great. We booked a Deluxe Atrium Queen room and were given room #021 - it was on the ground floor with a view of the Mews. It felt secluded and was quiet, making sleeping that much easier. The bed was a little hard, but the pillows were great. I also loved the ambiance of the room itself. It was a little warm, but we were able to open the window a crack, which helped circulate the air a little more. The staff was very attentive and when the hair dryer pooped out on me, they either fixed or replaced it while we were out for the day so I was able to use it right away the next morning. We let them know in advance we were celebrating our anniversary, and we got a sweet treat upon check-in, which was a very nice touch (also delicious!). We had the breakfast buffet on our second to last morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were lots of options: a charcuterie section, fruits, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, hash browns, tomatoes, pancakes - so much to offer. It is a bit pricey, which is why we only went once. The lobby/library area was so nice and I wish I could have spent a bit more time there. It was a nice place to sit and read/journal for a bit. We didn't do tea or go to the bar downstairs, but both spaces looked beautiful. I would 100% book here again. The South Kensington area in general is a great place to stay as it's much quieter than other areas of London, too.Show More

I chose this hotel because it was relatively affordable for London. Rooms are small and it didn't have a bathtub, which that seems to be a trend in modern hotel renovations. The room also had an annoying barn-door to the toilet which isn't an issue if you're a solo traveler. But traveling with someone you'll soon notice that the door doesn't block light, sound or odor. The bathroom did not appear to have an external fan. Quick check-in and check-out. Decent breakfast buffet and a short line every morning I went. Nice start to the day. If you're arriving by Tube with bags, the Shepard's Bush tube stop is your better option. It's about a 5-minute walk. Come out of the station, look left for the big highway and cross it after going up the ramp, rather than taking the underpass. The hotel is just at the other side. If you're leaving the hotel without bags and heading into central London, I recommend the Holland Park tube stop which is about a 10-minute walk along tree-lined Holland Park Avenue. You'll find a couple of small food stores, a Pret, numerous hair salons, a Starbucks and a couple of restaurants before you reach the tube. From that stop, it's one stop away to Notting Hill Gate for the transfer to the District and Circle line.Show More

Firstly the noise! None of the doors have soft close, so up until midnight and after 5.00am you will experience slamming, so don’t expect a decent night sleep. The rooms are cold, A/C takes decades to kick in. The bathroom we had there was no heated towel rail, so absolutely freezing. Requested another duvet, which eventually arrived, no cover on it! There’s a sensory light, so when you go to the loo, the whole room lights up like a Christmas tree, no robes. The concierge man I spoke to was absolutely hopeless and worse than his total inability to duplicate a room key, his attitude, rude, dismissive and totally unprofessional. Never experienced such a misplaced employee, and at front of house, plus, at a Hilton Hotel, certainly not advocating Hilton standards. The saving grace was Durgesh varade, extremely helpful and genuinely wanted to improve our stay, went over and above to rectify the situation, unfortunately wasn’t working the day we checked out, again, the concierge said he was, so we couldn’t thank him or draw his attention to his colleagues attitude.Show More

I felt like I was living in a typical London townhome because this suite has direct access to the street from its own front door. The furnishings and lighting were delightful, with am iPad mini to control all of the lights also allowing you to dim them to your liking. Both the living room and bedroom had their own Frame TV's which display art when the power is turned off. Another major plus was that each huge window was able to open up to the street allowing access to fresh air and all the sights and sounds of South Kensington. I could not have been more delighted with the room itself. I was wonderful! Unfortunately I have to deduct one star from this review only because the room was only serviced once per day during turn down service. It would have been nice to have the room made up when we were out for the day, but that never happened. Fortunately I don't mind making my own bed. When I returned each night though the room was eventually made up with fresh towels, etc. I will plan to come back and stay in this room again in the future. It is one of the best that London has to offer. Thanks Queen's Gate Hotel.Show More
