Overall the Ameritania at Times Square Hotel is slightly above average. As others have said, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is terrific for tourist activities in the Theater Dist...Overall the Ameritania at Times Square Hotel is slightly above average. As others have said, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is terrific for tourist activities in the Theater District, Central Park, Lincoln Center, and surroundings. The complimentary wine each evening is a nice perk. As others have also noted, the rooms are quite small - to be expected in NYC - and we requested a room with two beds and got one with one queen. In addition, the room had a huge mirror next to the bed leaning against the wall. It took up a lot more space than it was worth. The mattress on the bed was so soft we felt like we'd fall out of the bed; the hotel really needs to replace these mattresses. As others have noted, there is construction noise from the new hotel going up catty-corner across Broadway - we didn't find it too disturbing, though it starts between 6 and 7 AM each day. The bathrooms have been recently refreshed and the rain shower is a nice touch. Because there is only a partial glass wall in the shower it's hard not to get water all over the bathroom. I found the trick was to stand directly under or behind the flow of water. All in all, great location and a good value, if the noise and squishy mattresses aren't showstoppers.Show More

You cannot beat the location. It’s within walking distance to Broadway theaters, Times Square, Central Park and so much more. There is also plenty of parking garages nearby. With that price comes an expectation of near perfection. Sadly I wouldn’t have been happy with our experience if we had paid a small fraction of that amount. The heater didn’t work in our room, temperature in the room stayed mid 60’s until it was repaired the next morning. This was all made worse by the shower. The water would only get to lukewarm. Sink faucet had hot water but the mixing valve (?) on the shower couldn’t deliver that hot water? This was worsened by the bathroom having a drafty window. So you get the picture. Cold night’s sleep, hoping to warm up with a hot shower. Fail. The desk advised me that they had known about the water problem but thought it had been fixed. My wife was unable to use the shower for two days. Rooms lack amenities but most do in NYC. However I found the placement of the safe in our room amusing. You would literally have to lay on your stomach to use it.Show More
