To be fair this hotel is in a great location (5 minutes from the ACE subway lines, 15 minutes walk to The Empire State, 20 minutes to Times Square. )There’s a good food market nearby for coffee and fo...To be fair this hotel is in a great location (5 minutes from the ACE subway lines, 15 minutes walk to The Empire State, 20 minutes to Times Square. )There’s a good food market nearby for coffee and food and loads of restaurants nearby. The hotel has a modern feel, although the air conditioning is very noisy. Room size reasonable for a city hotel, beds comfortable, bathrooms nice, kept clean by daily servicing. We had a view of The Edge from our room, the other room viewed the street but we don’t worry about a view as we see them when we wander the city. Lifts are speedy so very little wait time from the 18th floor. Staff are friendly and acknowledged us ever time we came and went. So why only 3 stars? I get annoyed when only 3 large towels are left for 2 people. Come on, please leave 4. Used the make up remover sachet on the first night and never replaced. There’s a coffee machine, but had to ask for coffee as only tea pods supplied. Poor that I had to constantly leave a note for more coffee (stayed 7 nights). But my biggest grumble is about the resort fee. We had 2 rooms and had to pay for both. And I was aware this might be a charge BUT it was not explained to us at check in, just $500/room reserved on our card, I then assumed that as nothing was said that it had been included with our package deal. Told s out the charge when we checked out. So what did the resort fee give us? Nothing that I’m aware of, I expect wi-Fi as standard. We weren’t directed about the gym (found out about it when the lift stopped at the floor one time), weren’t told about the games area (found it by chance on our last day). A shame this let the hotel down. I was going to give 4 stars and I’m still likely to stay here again, but everything needs to be great to get 5 stars so train the reception staff to mention the resort fee, offer something for it and leave coffee!Show More

Also on account of the price: I know it was December weekend but the facilities are definitely not worth the cost. Location is convenient: just two blocks from Penn Station (Yeah, right, when the elevator decides to work for once, it will be a miracle, but this has nothing to do with Crowne) and five blocks from Port Authority Station from where you can take the subway to Jamaica Station and the Air Train towards the airport. The neighbourhood smells weed, but that´basically every corner of NYC nowadays. The hotel´s bright picture bears little resemblance to its actual appearance of it. The door of the hotel is just the small one on the right and if something charcterizes the unimpressive lobby, with a noticeable lack of light and grandeur. It feels like a budget hotel. Check-in staff was very kind. A nice touch: welcome drink. Rooms are just OK. Again not enough light to work or to read. Sound proofing is really bad. Booked room was a Premium one: nothing in it looked like that. Again: just OK. Bathroom is comfortable and spacious. For a such expensive room we expected more. Breakfast included was not buffett and there were few healthy options: the croissant was a let down and the "fruit plate" was just the standard mix iof green and orange melon. Nothing special. Not even the coffee nor the staff.I find the information about breakfast misleading: offering a Breakfast included option, one expects buffett breakfast. I´d only give it a second chance if the price became reasonable. At what they are charging now, I´d look elsewhere. I do not understand the reasons for which it has so great reviews.Show More

Very clean and well located – – we walked to everything – – Broadway, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Highline, and so much more. But the very best part was the staff – – every single person was friendly, helpful, and lovely, from Ryan, who checked us in, serving us a welcome glass of champagne and giving us a holiday goodie bag, and a bottle of champagne and birthday welcome bag— he was cheerful and delightful; to Jose, who stored our luggage and not only called a taxi for us when it was time to head to the airport, but provided updates on when the taxi would arrive and walked us out to the taxi and put our luggage in it for us – – all the while engaging in friendly chat with us; and everyone in between: housekeepers, front desk personnel and others were all so lovely. Our room was cleaned every day and our housekeeper even left us a thank you note for the tip the first day. I wish I knew the names of all the staff who impressed us because we kept commenting on how cheerful and friendly every single person was. Every time we entered the lobby, whether we were coming or going, all the staff on duty would look up, make eye contact with us and greet us with a very cheerful and friendly “Good morning” “Have a great day” “Welcome back”, etc, regardless of what they were doing. I highly recommend Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan—thanks to all for a wonderful stay!Show More

Great location if you are visiting NYC for the first time. Close enough to everything, including Penn Station, this allows you to explore the city on foot or via the subway. Easy to walk to Hudson yar...Great location if you are visiting NYC for the first time. Close enough to everything, including Penn Station, this allows you to explore the city on foot or via the subway. Easy to walk to Hudson yards, The highline and Chelsea Market or Times Square, Broadway, Grand Central. We had a super room, spotlessly clean and spacious double double. We were in a higher room and the end of a corridor which afforded us peace and quiet. The beds were super comfy and the bathroom was clean with a super shower, plenty of towels and hair dryer. The room had a fridge and coffee machine. These are a real bonus if you are travelling from abroad and have to adjust to the time difference. If you wake early you can make a hot drink. Make sure you grab milk and breakfast pastries or yogurts the night before! The staff at this hotel were amazing. As it was my friends 60th birthday they upgraded our room as described above and gifted her a bottle of Champagne too. Special thanks go to Gurmey, Rey and José, they made us so welcome and gave us some fabulous tips and advice. Nothing was too much trouble. This ensured my friend had a great birthday trip. This was my 5th trip to New York, I love this city and usually stay in the Soho area, however the location of this hotel and the staff have encouraged me to stay at this hotel. I would love to visit in the Festive season next time and this will be my go to hotel.Show More
