The property looks ...POSITIVES: Excellent location, close to several main railway stations. Just a few steps from underground stations serving the key lines, making it easy to reach the city centre. The property looks new, or at least recently renovated. NEGATIVES: My room was very small and had no wardrobe — just a small box next to the bed used as a nightstand. No hook behind the door for a coat; the only option was to hang it on one of the four pegs above the coffee set, risking to knock over the cups. In the bathroom, no towel hooks, no place for the sponge, and no light above the mirror for shaving. The shower floor was very slippery, and there was no non-slip mat provided. It makes you wonder if the architects who designed these rooms have ever tried living in them. Breakfast: I paid in advance at reception, only to find that the Full English Breakfast cost less on the menu. When I pointed it out, I was told, “Well, have more coffee from the buffet.” The windows were poorly soundproofed — all the street noise could be heard clearly. At checkout I found an unexpected £13.95 “Accommodation Charge.” I was told it was a voluntary contribution, like a tip — but it had been added automatically, without notice.Show More

The reception staff are wonderful, they are so kind and welcoming; we stayed three times in October and each time they greeted us with such warmth, it really cheered us. One of them brought up to our room a beautiful sliced fresh fruit platter, with an amazing array of fruits, we have never experienced that before from any hotel we have stayed in throughout the UK, or the world. When she delivered it, I thought a mistake had been made, as we hadn’t ordered it, but she was so lovely and said it was a gift. Imagine that anywhere else in London! The rooms we’ve stayed in are wonderful, the air conditioning and heating (now that it’s autumn) works really well, the rooms are spacious and quiet with amazing views. The restaurant is just great, the food excellent and once again, the service staff are brilliant. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, you won’t get better treatment anywhere.Show More

There was also an unpleasant smell in the room. I had booked two rooms and specifically requested that we be placed next to each other. When we arrived late at night, one room was on the third floor and the other in the basement. This was very frustrating, especially since we had been told it would be arranged. The reception staff were not welcoming, and the public toilets in the hotel were dirty and smelled bad. The neighborhood around the hotel also felt uncomfortable. There was trash everywhere, and homeless people were living in tents along the street. Unfortunately, this gave us a very poor impression of London. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel.Show More
