Pros: - close to EWR for flights i...Gansevoort advertises itself as a full-service luxury hotel. My experience felt more like a mid-tier hotel that hangs a high price tag on its rooms due to location. Pros: - close to EWR for flights in and out of the city - location may be attractive to leisure travelers - rooms are clean and housekeeping is attentive Cons: - when I checked in at 7pm on Tuesday, with 35 degree weather and wind chill there was absolutely no one to help me with the door. Same happened on the way out - there was a woman with two large bags checking out and leaving the hotel and there was no one to help until I had to go and hold the doors open for her - room service - the person on the phone was curt and sounded like they were having a bad day but why take it out on a customer? - no express laundry service - if you have to get your suit pressed for the day, it’s not an option. Express pressing services are common and expected at every 5 star establishment and I see this service offered consistently across the country (I’m on the road well over half the time). I was in town for a black tie fundraiser and ended up trudging along in the cold to find a laundry service in the neighborhood - front desk staff are mostly cold, and often unhelpful, far from friendly and welcoming Unfortunately this will be my last stay at the Gansevoort.Show More

The hotel was in a great location for coffee shops and restaurants and it was really easy access the Hudson fo...We spent 6 nights here as part of our trip to New York to see the tennis at the US Open. The hotel was in a great location for coffee shops and restaurants and it was really easy access the Hudson for a morning run and then come back to the room with some lovely breakfast. Chelsea market is near the hotel which contains loads of places to eat/drink and shop. The hotel is also 2 minutes walk to the high line. The hotel is really nice and the staff are very polite. The pool on the roof top is great to visit and enjoy the New York skyline but the price to hire sun beds is extremely expensive, but guests can access the lounging chairs for free. The rooftop is very busy on a weekend. There is also a modern gym. The only negatives were that the hotel doesn’t give you fresh drinking water every day. We also had to ask for a kettle (which was provided) but then we realised we had no cups either! Great hotel in a great location, we were disappointed to leave.Show More

We had a view of the river which was fantastic. Everything was clean and tastefully decorated. The whole vibe was hip and cool but also warm and inviting. And the staff was exceptional. Erika, Ross, Brahim, Gabriel, Melvin and every single other staff member we encountered was extremely friendly, helpful and went above and beyond. Cannot wait to stay there again.
