We stayed at The Godfrey Hotel for a week and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. Upon arrival after a long-haul flight, we were met by an unprofessional reception...We stayed at The Godfrey Hotel for a week and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. Upon arrival after a long-haul flight, we were met by an unprofessional receptionist wearing pink who seemed completely uninterested in checking us in. She didn’t smile, offer any information about the hotel, or make us feel welcome. She took our passports while slurping from a takeaway cup and handed us our keys — that was the extent of the interaction. Not what you’d expect from a four-star hotel. Noise was a constant issue. The hotel is next to a fire station, and there is absolutely no soundproofing — we were kept awake by sirens, slamming doors, and people moving through the hallways. Earplugs were provided, but they did little to help. We also went two days without water due to a “boiler issue,” and before that, there was a strong unpleasant smell coming from the sinks and hallways. The cleaning service made the bed daily, but the floors were never swept and visible dust accumulated on all surfaces. The bar service was another major disappointment. Prices for the same drink — an Aperol Spritz — changed several times during our stay. During “happy hour,” I was charged $13 for the first one and $19 for the second, all within about 20 minutes and still in happy hour. The next day, we were told the rooftop bar no longer offered happy hour, and later we were told the downstairs bar didn’t include Aperol on the happy hour menu so we were charged $20 for that one making it three different prices. Each staff member seemed to have a different answer and little interest in clarifying. It felt careless and unprofessional. The rooftop, which appears on the website as a feature for hotel guests, was repeatedly closed off for “private events.” On a occasion, we were told we couldn’t even sit or look around without paying an admission fee — despite being hotel guests. On our final day, we were again told to leave because of another event. This made for an uncomfortable and embarrassing l experience. Whilst waitijg in receptionist we heard of two other girls who experienced the same issue and were made feel that they were trying to crash a party. Check-out was as cold as check-in. We handed in our keys, and no one asked about our stay or offered a simple goodbye. While waiting to leave, I even overheard a receptionist say how hard it was “to be enthusiastic,” which summed up the attitude of most of the staff perfectly. The only positive mention goes to the valet and security team at the entrance — they were friendly, welcoming, and seemed to be the only staff members who cared about guest experience. Overall, the hotel felt unprofessional, poorly managed, and completely lacking in hospitality. We left feeling that we had wasted our money. --- If i was to give it any stars it would be one soley being for the wide range of towels by the pool and the modern look of hotel however none of that matters if staff cannot treat guests with kindness.Show More

Handy when a handbag is on the luggage trolley- came to check-in staff miserable not wearing name tags snd not welcoming, got to the room and nightmare begins - firstly brown stains up the wall by the bathroom, red stain on the floor by the bathroom, fridge balancing on the floor on cardboard? Curtains filthy torn and disgusting. Across the top of the bathroom sliding door was dust falling from it, noticed lovely holes in the pillowcases. Went down to reception to speak to the duty reception supervisor who stated that we couldn’t move rooms as the hotel was full capacity suggested if we didn’t like it we could find another hotel and they would refund, tried to get another hotel non available Friday night in Hollywood for 3 adults ( but hotel could be booked on hotel websites??), suggested they would remove $35 nightly resort fee - great compensation (not) - asked to speak to housekeeping manager but advised they don’t speak to guests well that’s a first for me as a regular traveller. Next morning tried again to speak to a duty manager but yes you guessed it no one available advised reception supervisor for one to contact me - but no one did or has - customer care is non existent, staff more interested in being on their mobile phones or drinking their iced coffees and chatting to each other.Approx $40 breakfast buffet please don’t make me laugh had better breakfast in a premier Inn and better service. Parking is $60 per night well don’t use across next door to the hotel is $20 max rate for a daily rate.Show More

Overall this hotel does the bare minimum to be a 4 star hotel but if you get a good rate it’s the best option in the area. The Rooms are small but they are nice, clean and the bed is comfy. The 2 waters in the room were 1/4 size bottles and a terrible brand. The gym is insanely small with the barest of equipment. Never made it to the rooftop because there was an event going on that had music so loud you could hear it on every floor and every time the elevator opened there were 50 people piled inside. Seems to be a common thing at this hotel on weekends. The lobby is nice but it was playing elevator jazz music on a sat night which was super weird and it was also filled with the people who didn’t seem able to get into the rooftop event. The check in was fine. Overall I would say that this is a decent hotel but doesn’t seem to have a soul or an identity. It seems to go after whatever it can get to pay the bills and its rates are often overpriced. If on the occasion you get a rate closer to the $200 side grab it that’s the deal this hotel Is worth but also keep in mind they will still stick you with a $40.67 hotel fee that didn’t have any value what so ever.Show More
