From the very first interaction with reception staff it felt we were not welcomed. Room was not ready, they said they will have it ready and let us know (they did not tell us how will they let us know...From the very first interaction with reception staff it felt we were not welcomed. Room was not ready, they said they will have it ready and let us know (they did not tell us how will they let us know, paging, phone call, email?) Not a welcome to Greece or welcome to The Hyatt, nothing. The attendant just grabbed passports and did the check-in. While waiting, we went to see the roof top pool which is very nice. Came down to the lobby bar to eat something and have a drink after a 9.30hrs flight from Toronto. I figured while seating there i will go and ask the attendants how much longer it will take to get a room ready....it was about 2.30pm, he started searching on his computer and got a room ready right away, i asked if the room was the type with view to the Acropolis to which he responded, no, you room is a deluxe but no views, i said fine but can we get a quiet room not to be disturbed by noise so he gave us and internal view room which was fine. There was no introduction from the reception staff in regards to the hotel amenities at all, nothing, they did not care to mention anything, we had to discover it all on our own,
Once in the room we did not have coffee pods, to which i called guests services and they brough it to our room fairly quick.
Went back next day to reception, dealt with the same skinny guy and asked him if we can get more coffee pods, his answer was immediately that we need to pay extra for coffee pods if we want more, to which my reaction was ...how strange..never had that before. He missed to explain that we get 3 complimentary coffee pods daily and IF we wanted more those will be extra.
Lack of communication between housekeeping and mini bar services, housekeeping cleaned our room few times, took all cups and glasses but they do not replenish them back, it is the mini bar services team that does the replenishment of coffee, glasses and cups. Literally everyday i had to call guests services asking for cups, glasses and coffee. It was ridiculous.
They keep the lobby side doors opened all the time and people, including hotel staff smoke right at the door, allowing for all the cigarette smoke to come right into the lobby. Lobby smelled like a smoking bar form the 70s.
Elevators between 7 am and 9.30am are almost impossible to get in to go up or down, since they offer breakfast service everybody are going to eat on the top floor.
Overall it felt like a cheap hotel experience, even though the hotel looks great, the staff and service levels need a lot of work.show more
