I was sending a group of guests to New York for a Yankees game and the Ryder cup. Two of us were looking into hotels at the same time and we both booked at different hotels. Ultimately we decided to g...I was sending a group of guests to New York for a Yankees game and the Ryder cup. Two of us were looking into hotels at the same time and we both booked at different hotels. Ultimately we decided to go with the hotel that put our guests closer to the event. I tried canceling this hotel within one hour of making the reservation. I could not reach anyone at the hotel so I contacted Hilton customer service. They stated that they could not cancel the reservation without talking to the hotel manager. Later the same evening I received a phone call from the hotel stating that they would cancel my stay, but would be required to charge me for the first night (Wednesday). The fee for the first night was over 70% of the total bill. When I asked why so much, they stated that it was their most expensive night and because the city was on gridlock due to the UN meetings, and that no other reservations could be taken within the city. I immediately went online to check and the hotel was still taking reservations. When I stated this to the person on the phone, she said that it was the general manager's decision and it was final. I have never had a hotel not cancel a reservation the same day it was made. This hotel was not honest or fair. I would not want anyone else to stay at this property and experience the service I did. I book over 100 rooms through Hilton each year and I have never experienced this type of dishonesty.Show More

The location of the hotel is in the most touristy area in the city, around Times Square and 42nd, so very convenient for many attractions and events. I was not able to check in early - at least not without paying $100 extra - but once I got my room later in the day, I was pretty happy with it. Quite spacious for the location, and with a decent city view, although the Hilton is nestled in between several buildings. My room featured a very large TV with streaming and casting options, and a good choice of cable channels. The bathroom was decent, although with an old worn and awkwardly placed shower head, and you had to stand in the tub to take a shower. I didn't really try any of the onsite amenities but I did notice a bar on site which looked nice. There are about a million bars and restaurants within walking distance though. At checkout, the hotel charges 5 USD to store your bag, which is absolutely ridiculous. I have never seen an extra charge for that service at any hotel before. Hilton or otherwise. Overall a nice stay. Just be aware that during certain dates, the rate is very inflated and doesn't justify a mid-level Hilton. It's hard to beat the location though, even if the street feels a little sketchy.Show More

The room and common areas were clean, and the beds were comfortable. However, for $890/night, this hotel fell well short of our expectations. The interior decor was tired, dated and in need of a refresh. The "sky lobby" on the 22nd floor is accessed by elevator from the street level. However, for our entire 4-day visit prior to and over the busy Columbus Day weekend, one of the two elevators was out of service. This resulted in long lines (20-30 guests) having to wait 2-3 cycles before being able to board an elevator into/out of the hotel. Equally annoying was the lack of soundproofing in our room, which had a door connecting our room with the room next door. Though the door was closed, it might as well have been wide open, as sounds and voices from the room next door were very disruptive. Overall, we will be looking elsewhere for accommodations during our next NYC visit, possibly the Hampton Inn on 41st Street, which also has an excellent location, was recently renovated, is considerably cheaper, and includes a free breakfast.Show More

The renovation is stunning, the rooms are genuinely spacious (rare for NYC), and the entire property was spotless. The views from our room were absolutely incredible — the kind of classic New York skyline moments you can’t fake. Every staff interaction was warm and professional. Special shoutouts to Ashley (hotel manager), Robert (bar manager), Angel and Raquel at the front desk, and Ignacio at the door — each of them went above and beyond and made our stay feel personal. Breakfast service was excellent — attentive, friendly, and fast — though the pastries were a bit stale. On the other hand, all of the grab-and-go items and the food at the bar were fantastic and absolutely hit the spot throughout the weekend. Location-wise, you’re close to everything but still feel tucked away from the chaos once you’re inside. Overall: fantastic stay. Huge rooms, great service, immaculate spaces, and unbeatable views. We’ll absolutely be back.Show More
